Lead the day to day operations of all the UltraTech chartered ships, plan the requirement of ships, assist in hire / sub hire the ships from the market at competitive rates, streamline Marine operations required compliances at upcoming terminals / plants / projects and ensure efficient handling / movement of cement clinker. The job includes active participation in business strategy for growth of Marine sector.

Job Context Major Challenges

The scope of Marine function includes Marine Coastal operations, Imports and Exports. UltraTech has covered entire west coast with shipping impression for their cement dispatches with 3 loading ports 6 discharge ports and it also aspires to explore the possibilities of using East coast Inland waterways. The company has fleet of 18 ships of varied size to cater its long term demand and supply. It is vital to focus on creating new facilities ie new sea based terminals, up gradation of shipping fleet, ports / jetties. Marine logistics is very specialized field and always content of high volume, high capital asset, high risk, 24 X 7 operations but it is most economical mode of transportation.

An effective Vendor Management ensures an alignment of different categories of service providers to satisfy both internal and external customers, building relationship with Port Shipping authorities for long term policies and improving loading / unloading infrastructure.

The real time decision making, coordination and liasoining is the key for Marine Operations and one of the major challenge.

(R) Review and monitor budget with actuals basis monthly / quarterly / half yearly / annually KRA2 Bunker Management (A) Oversee all bunker management for timely supply and optimize costs. KRA3 Chartering of Vessels (A) Maintain records and analyse data for all the ships under Charters with respect to freights, consumptions and disbursements

(R,A) Carry out negotiations with parties for finalizing charter at competitive rates

(R,A) Inspect and do technical evaluation prior to chartering the ship

(R,A) Post fixture operations

(R,A) Prepare and submit draft C/P for approval.

(R,A) Review the estimated freights and port related information to various departments KRA4 Dredging (R) Arrange to float enquiry and select competitive party for dredging and bathymetric surveys

(R) Maintain safe depths at all jetties

(R) Monitor progress till completion and optimize the cost. KRA5 Lay time Calculations (A) Approval of lay time calculations for all inbound and outbound vessels. KRA6 New Projects and Opportunities (R) Identify and evaluate along the coast for setting up GU BCT to reduce the cost, including jetty, ship design and berth allocation

(R,A) Improve / upgrade existing jetties, ships, ports, loading unloading equipments

(R,A) Organize new deliveries of ships including design with technical specifications and monitor building process

(R,A) Streamline operations on new / acquired jetty and at extended jetty KRA7 Post Fixture Operations (R) Conform identified delays in ports caused by vessels and plan and take corrective measures to improve efficiency

(R,A) Approval of payments. KRA8 Safety and Maintenance (R) Capital / maintenance dredging at various locations

(R) Over seeing the compliance of jetty safety standard, its review updates KRA9 Statutory Compliance (R) Comply with International, National and Local regulations

(R) To conform DG License for all cement carriers are in order.

(R) Ensure statutory compliance regarding NSPC / ISPS / OSCP for jetties are in order

(R) Liaison with agents, surveyors, port authorities, ship chandlers for port formalities, requirements and compliances
