Purpose of the Role



Will be responsible for the Legal and Regualtory functions and essential business support.

Role Description

1. Handling litigations (civil, criminal, consumer, labour, tax and other litigations). Should be able to work closely with the respective business teams to work along and obtain complete facts to take it up/defend legally. Differentiate and highlight the legal aspects. Take up the issue with the Company lawyer - brief them about the complete facts, business requirement and understand how best the matter can be taken up legally before the court of law. Work closely with both internal and external stakeholders in preparing the brief and ensure timely filing. Represent and appear before the appropriate forums representing the company. Working on various strategies to optimize business benefits/minimize losses including out of court settlements. Duly represent the Company wherever required including being a witness and ensure the interests of the Company are duly defended and safeguarded
2. Legal support to Business team - To provide legal support to various end user teams on their day to day business needs and ensure smooth functioning which includes filing of criminal complaints, Police complaints, Legal notices, settlement letters and labour disputes (including issuance of show cause notice, charge sheets and Domestic enquiry) advising the company of on various legal matters as may arise from time to time.
3. Drafting of all kinds of contracts (including Lease agreements, vendor agreements, NDA, consultancy agreements, software Agreements etc) within the committed TAT for the Business. To understand the requirements of end user team and to draft contracts to cater business needs within the committed TAT or depending on the business needs. Sensitizing and advising end user team on various contract clauses. to negotiate contracts and its terms with other side and ensure closure of contracts.
4. Legal and regulatory compliance pertaining to DOT/TRAI guidelines, regulations. Providing interpretation and adherence to the TRAI/TDSAT orders and other legal matters in relation to Broadband industry. Sensitize internal stake holders and ensure compliance with rules and regulations
5. Making strategic business-legal representations to seek necessary policy interventions for the company. Understanding and representing to various Consultation papers and other white papers on important policy and regulatory aspects. Work closely and represent the company before various State and Central Governmental Authorities in order to uphold company’s point of view.
6. Prepare and filing reports before various authorities as per applicable laws. Drafting, submission of correspondences, letters and applications with various Authorities as per the business need and to uphold company’s point of view. Close loop with internal stake holders and various governmental authorities on Right of way issues, sensitize business teams understand their requirements and duly prepare business-legal representations to various authorities and bodies. Duly defend the company on various ROW issues and show cause notices if any.
7. Liaise with law enforcement agencies to advocate company’s issues/positions.
8. Research, anticipate and guard company against legal risks
9. Handling all the relevant Legal and Regualtory issues pertaining to Broadband Business that may arise in the due course of business.

Key Result Areas

1) Update the management of the relevant legal and industrial developments on a daily basis.
2) Agreements and legal correspondence to be drafted with zero error within deadline from the receipt of request.
3) To co-ordinate with the inter-functional teams and the external authorities to complete the task - within the required time.
4) To co-ordinate with the external counsels and take appropriate legal actions basis the requirement.
5) To coordinate with various law enforcement agencies to enable the business to achieve its objectives.
6) Front end legal and regulatory audit requirements by proactively maintaining all records and documents in a structured manner so as to facilitate any Due diligence and other audits from time to time.
Desired Skills and Competencies

• Proven background in telecom and other laws (Contract law, Civil & Criminal laws, labour laws, IT and Privacy laws)
• Commercial awareness, ability to work closely with business teams to understand the business legal requirements
• Adaptability and Commitment. Should be open to work on extended business hours to handle critical works such as criminal complaints, liaison with various govt departments etc.,
• Excellent negotiation and communications skills.
• Analytical ability and strong attention to detail
• Good Interpersonal skills
• Excellent drafting skills and fluency in written and spoken Kannada. Ability to read and write Hindi will be an added advantage.

Recruitment Specifications



Education
LLB/LLM from a recognised Indian University
Excellent drafting skills in English. Fluency in written and spoken Kannada. Ability to read and write Hindi will be an added advantage.
Decent working knowledge of MS – office. Specifically, MS – word, Excel and Power point.

Work Experience
1. Should have Minimum of 5 years of working experience.
2. having a blend of practice and corporate experience will be preferred.
3. Should have Minimum 1 year experience in handling teams
4. Strong interpersonal abilities, excellent negotiation, drafting & communication skills
5. Must possess strong MS – Excel and PPT skills
