As a part of establishing a cadre of midwives, the Government of India has set up National Midwifery Training Institutes (NMTIs) with a cascade model for capacity building across the country. The trainees from the NMTI are responsible for setting up State Midwifery Training Institutes (SMTI), to train Midwife Practitioners in every state. Aastrika Foundation is supporting the NMTI and SMTI at Bengaluru at Vanivilas Hospital, a high caseload public healthcare facility, with state-of-the-art infrastructure. The Midwifery Educator must resonate with midwifery values and principles to become a champion to advocate the midwifery model of care. She must undergo comprehensive training, and complete courses to become a professional midwife with international-level competencies. Upon completion of the requisite training, she is expected to train other healthcare personnel. The Midwifery Educator must be flexible in travelling to different hospitals/universities to carry out midwifery training. Job Responsibilities: 1.Undergo all the training (physical and digital) that is required to become a midwife educator of international quality. 2.Contribute to the Learning Resource Package and the Midwifery Initiatives, in general, by providing active and consistent feedback. 3.Help / contribute to the establishment of midwifery cadre in both public and private sectors. 4.Ensure timelines, goals, and objectives are met. 5.Liaise with the internal team and partners as needed and ensure colleagues and supervisors are apprised of all aspects of the training. 6.Contribute to other activities and take up roles / tasks as needed. 7.Identify challenges / roadblocks, and look at finding solutions to ensure smooth implementation of the programme. 8.Ideate, collect data, and participate in conferences and seminars. 9.Must be willing to continue clinical practice, along with anchoring midwifery education training.
