Planning and delivering PE lessons: PE teachers are responsible for designing and implementing a curriculum that promotes physical fitness, motor skills development, and knowledge of various sports and physical activities
They plan lessons that are age-appropriate, engaging, and cater to the diverse needs and abilities of students
Instructing and demonstrating physical activities: PE teachers demonstrate and explain different exercises, sports techniques, and fitness routines to students
They provide clear instructions on proper form, safety precautions, and rules of the activities, ensuring students understand and follow them correctly
Assessing and evaluating student progress: PE teachers assess and evaluate students' performance and progress in physical activities
They conduct regular assessments, such as skill tests, fitness assessments, and game play evaluations, to monitor individual and group achievements
They provide constructive feedback to students, encouraging them to improve their skills and overall fitness
Promoting sportsmanship and teamwork: PE teachers foster a positive and inclusive environment that promotes sportsmanship, fair play, and teamwork
They encourage students to develop important social skills, such as communication, cooperation, and respect for others, through participation in group activities and team sports
Ensuring student safety: PE teachers prioritize student safety during physical activities
They enforce safety rules and procedures, provide appropriate supervision, and teach students about injury prevention and first aid
They also maintain a clean and hazard-free environment, regularly inspecting equipment and facilities
Organizing extracurricular activities: PE teachers often organize and oversee extracurricular activities, such as sports teams, intramural competitions, and fitness clubs
They may coordinate practices, schedule games or tournaments, and provide coaching or guidance to students participating in these activities
