Head - Innovation & Engineering - Consumer Durable/Appliances Sector (20-30 yrs)

KEY JOB PURPOSE

The Head of Engineering & Innovation role is ensure that the company's engineering operations align with its strategic objectives. This role is vital for ensuring that the company delivers globally competitive, reliable, and desirable products while adapting to evolving consumer preferences and technological advancements

PRIMARY TASK INVOLVED

Technical Leadership

- Establishing engineering standards, processes, and best practices across all engineering domain

- Driving technical excellence in design, materials, and manufacturing methods.

- Evaluating and implementing new technologies to stay competitive and relevant

Product Development

- Innovation: Spearheading the design and development of new products that meet market needs.

- Improvement: Enhancing existing products for better performance, cost efficiency, and sustainability.

- Collaboration: Working closely with design, marketing, and sales teams to align product features with consumer expectations.

Manufacturing and Process Optimization

- Working with the production team to streamline manufacturing processes.

- Ensuring scalability of production while maintaining cost efficiency and quality.

- Integrating automation and advanced manufacturing techniques as needed.

Strategic Contributions

- Participating in executive decision-making to align engineering initiatives with business goals.

- Monitoring industry trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities and threats.

- Balancing cost, quality, and innovation to deliver consumer value.

Quality Assurance

- Ensuring that all products meet regulatory and company quality standards.

- Implementing rigorous testing protocols to assess durability, functionality, and safety.

Project Management

- Overseeing timelines and budgets for engineering projects.

- Managing resources effectively, including talent, materials, and equipment.

- Monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress.

Strategic Contributions

Customer Focus

SKILL/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

- Should possess extensive knowledge Engineering, product development, manufacturing process

- Exceptional knowledge in Engineering and knowledge across disciplines

- Extensive knowledge in variety of technologies and their application and knowledge of materials

- Understanding manufacturability and sourcing bottlenecks

- Ability to communicate, present and influence all levels of the organization, including executive and C-level

- Proven ability to position products against competitors

- Excellent verbal and written communications skills

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor of Engineering & Post Graduation in Management

- Should have worked at a leadership level in Consumer Durable / Appliances / Engineering organisations.
