Their HR dept and worse senior management. Management not treat fairly with junior employee. All decision taken by manager, no involvement of HR dept. Even HR dept also support indirectly to manager decision. Their HR dept and senior management team also pressurized employee in case of any conflict happen. Here Manager and senior management override company policies, even they don't care about HR department because HR department is not strict here. So manager easily bypass company policies. Overall not fair treatment with junior employee. Appraisal is low and promotion not guaranteed if you are not near and dear of your manager. It doesn't matter how much time you spend here, if you are not favorite and follow your manager you will not get promotion. Optum is a great place to work as fresher. When you are experienced there is not much to learn and at one time your career you will feel stagnant. Gain some experience in Optum and then switch to different company for further growth. For those who don't want pressure and want job security and comfort zone then staying with the company will be the best option for you.

Everything is in balance at optum and the main thing here is job security which is very good. People are supportive and management are fair with everyone.
