They give lot of on the job training,safety in the workplace,how to keep things in their proper place,motivation and communication in the work place.
After they take over Pond's they discontinued Staff picnic,Giving gifts for New year,Ayudha Pooja and Deepavali.They closed Pond's Chromepet factory,Ooty Mushroom Plant and Kodaikanal Thermometer Plant and the staff are given VRS without moving to HLL and the workers are sent home.They are keeping nearly Rs.4000/- crores Pond's Employees Trust amount and our previous personnel manager Mr.K.J.Mohan Kumar is fighting to get the amount with some of the Managers,Staff and Workers of Pond's factories of Chennai,Pondicherry and Kodaikanal.Previousl he used to conduct lot of meeting in Chennai,Pondicherry and Kodaikanal.He is not allowed to enter Pondicherry factory and be told to wait outside HLL Pondy factory by HLL Manager. He retired from Goa Plant.Mr.S.Gurumoorthy,ex Manager in HLL Chennai factory,whose father was working for HLL,through him only he joined HLL,Chromepet factory as Manager and Mr.R.Narasimhan,who was secretary to Mr.V.Balaraman,Pond's Managing Director in the factory told me before factory manager told me that I was not eligible to be transferred to HLL because they have told me that I have not completed five points as prescribed by them.Eventhough lot of staff got diaries as gift, they have told that gift is allowed in HLL. This has to be probed by some good top HLL Executive.So,myself,Mr/K.R.Thyagarajan and Mr.Royston Crasta have applied for VRS and relieved during June 2003.One Mr.Ramesh of P.R.S.Indutries has asked me what I want as gift and I told that I want Carrom Board.I got Carrom Board from him but he has told the incident to Mr.S.Gurumoorthy and Mr.R.Narasimhan who was the personnel manager eventhough he does not know anything about personnel law or have not got any academic qualification in personnel.They have only told that I am not eligible to be transferred to HLL eventhough I have got approximately Rs.135 lakhs in collecting sales tax forms. I worked as Cashier cum clerk in Hindustan Lever (previously in Pond's)and individually handled arranging files in the Godown eventhough they have not provided sufficient people to help me and the place was in a big chaos.

Do not join if you are a management trainee (UFLP). The shrewd HR has designed a policy where your growth will be stunted and render you good for nothing. While your peers in other companies will grow and get promoted once or even twice and start earning double of what you do, you will sit on hikes of 3000-5000 annually. They don’t promote you until 5 years despite exceptional performance. Growth opportunities are limited and the company is full of underperforming mediocre employees who are full of politics. Only way to survive is to keep playing politics with each other and saving ones backs. There is no real tech happening at Unilever. They just create engineering college grade projects and market it as the next big thing internally. The product managers do not have a hint of real Product management. They are just passing the parcel from here to there. You will neither grow, not get compensated and 5 years down the line you will be in a situation where no one in the industry wants you anymore.
