This company is very good for the people who are fully settled in Bangalore or the native Bengaluru people, especially for women. Work-life balance is well maintained as most of the time you will not have any work. CBA has recently started its existing system migration to the cloud but the pace of the transition is very slow. When I got hired in CBA back in 2022 that time what ever the benefits the hiring HR promised most of them were vague. There is huge amount of your CTC will be part of the veriable pay(which they called STVR), 20% of the fixed amount. It is non-negotiable. Also as per the company policy no one will get 100% percent of the STVR. On an avarage you will get maximum 50% of the STVR. CBA is very much confuse about their choice of technology. They are hiring people with very serious designation but eventually the candidate is end with silly excel report. For an example most of the Data engineers in the organisation are just running jobs and monitor them as pert of their daily work. Quality engineers are running same test cases daliy. There is nothing great about this company
Work-life balance is worst and product release plan are done in Australia without considering available resource and time which leads to overtime working even though company policy prohibiting overtime. Root cause of this culture: 1.Local management takes no ownership of resources. 2.Employees fear retaliation to say no to unrealistic timeline set by Australia counter part. 3.There is unofficial competition between teams( product owner) in Australia to deliver more for their growth. Please note that their is no external customer for these product and no demand to deliver on any specified time, few exception may be there due to regulator requirement. 4.The Product owners in Australia are Indians who are from service based companies like HCL, TCS. Very poor management and leadership. There is no proper roadmap for the program which they are bringing for employees. Its said that BA and testing profile is becoming redundant and people have to either leave or take up development task. So employees in certain times they feel like very much insecured at their job. Management will keep some program for making employee themself to leave the job wherein they ll bring talented candidate to feel not confident . WLB is good because there is very less work because they dont have proper projects. Some projects will start and stop in the middle.

CBA India team is treated like a vendor. Toxic work culture especially in the database team. Everything is controlled by Sydney team. All important work is owned by Sydney team. India team is given monotonous, clerical kind of work only to make them feel worthless and unproductive. Anyone who tries to take a stand is humiliated in front of the entire team deliberately. Well, comm bank is newly set up in India. They are still struggling to transition projects from Australia. If things doesn't go with there way, they can release you immediately. I am the prime example of this. Our entire team has been laid off recently. They believe in hire and fire rules. No one can predict the future in comm bank specifically in India.
The environment is very toxic and I am not even kidding. People from ANZ regretting their decision after joining Commonwealth India. They said atleast we had job security in ANZ but here they can fire you anyday so whoever is joining make sure you give 100 percent everyday. Everyday means you have to give everyday.
