Is Work-Life Balance an Indian Myth? 😥

My wife recently started working abroad, and it's been a wake-up call! Back in India, late-night emails and endless calls were the norm. Now in Berlin, there's a clear divide between work and life, and everyone seems more efficient. But is this the whole story for India? I've worked with some incredibly talented folks back home who get things done without the constant hustle. So, what gives? Is the intense work culture just a big-city thing? Are there ways to improve work-life balance across India? Let's chat! Share your experiences.😊

I think younger generations are placing more emphasis on personal well-being, and companies are slowly recognizing the importance of a happy workforce. So yes we do have long working hours but gradually things are changing.

To improve work-life balance across India, a multi-pronged approach is needed👍🤷‍♂️. Companies should promote flexible work arrangements, discourage unnecessary after-hours communication, and prioritize results over presenteeism. Employees should also set boundaries and advocate for their well-being

Recently came across Jockey's new ad campaign "freedom or nothing" & it feels like GenZ is really into personal well-being & not like old folks looking only for money & position 😀

if I Talk about India, companies encourage hard work and because of that they set unrealistic expectations for the employees, and it affects their mental health and reduces their working efficiency.

There are various reasons for this, but I'll tell you the major one. The freshers usually have to move to different cities to work and have to live in PGs etc. Rather, being alone in the room, youngsters prefer to stay with friends in the office. And since they stay for long, it is expected for seniors to stay longer. As a bachelor, it's not much of an issue, but for a family guy, it is.

It's all about supply and demand. Sure, highly talented engineers are still hard to come by. But unless you are one of them, you don't have much of a choice. Prioritize your well being a bit too much in India, and there is always another unemployed guy who's willing to take your place with no regards to work life balance.
