Do people ever get bullied for their political views?

The political climate is crazy, even the water cooler chats can turn into shouting matches. I'm honestly a little afraid to speak my mind. I've seen a few colleagues get into it over social media posts, and it's not a pretty sight. But come on, shouldn't we be able to have civil discussions, even if we disagree? So, curious minds want to know. Have any of you dealt with this at work? If so, how'd you navigate it? Did you find a way to have open conversations?

Don't ever, discuss politics or religion in a work setting unless you work in politics or religion.

I've experienced backlash, isolation, etc, for my political beliefs more times than I can count over the years (my views are pretty mainstream, just not common in some of the circles I frequent).

I understand your concerns, but let's stay positive! It's important to create a safe and respectful environment for open conversations. Try setting ground rules and focusing on finding common ground. Remember, respectful discussions can lead to better understanding and growth. Good luck!

"I'm honestly a little afraid to speak my mind." As you should be. This is maturity. Good that you have better judgement.

I am pretty open about my views actually. I am, however, very open to listening to reasoning and logic. But, I think my people at work are also very chill so that helps a lot to have discussion instead of debates.

Don't discuss. You can't expect everyone to have a healthy discussion. It can hurt someone's feelings and you might not be able to know. And, they can take measures into their hand. Better to avoid. If you want to discuss and know it'll be subtle, try once and see other's reaction and you can decide
