2 Years in Corporate: What No One Tells You
Here’s what I’ve learned from the corporate facade:
1. One Mistake Can Erase Everything
Be the best employee for two years? Great. Mess up once? That’s what they’ll remember. Your wins don’t always protect you from a single failure.
2. Colleagues ≠ Friends
Some are amazing, but most? Self-serving or backstabbing. I got lucky with a few real ones, but I’ve also seen people switch sides faster than a WiFi signal.
3. Office Politics is a Bloodsport
One bad apple can turn the whole office into a battlefield. Play smart, or be cornered and replaced. Staying "neutral" isn’t always an option.
4. Bootlickers Always Win
Management sees through them, but somehow still rewards them. Meanwhile, the real workers are overlooked. Fair? No. Reality? Yes.
5. My Survival Strategy: Work. Go Home. Repeat.
I keep my head down, do my job, and watch from the sidelines. I know more than I let on, but I refuse to play dirty.
What has corporate life taught you? Drop your wisdom below!

Don’t Take Criticism Personally...Constructive feedback can be tough to hear, but it’s an opportunity for growth. In the corporate world, it’s less about who you are and more about how you perform. Don’t let criticism define you, use it as a tool to improve.

Stay humble, But don’t sell yourself short: It’s easy to get caught up in the corporate hierarchy, but don’t forget to advocate for yourself. Know your worth and don’t be afraid to ask for a raise or promotion when the time is right. No one will do it for you.
