Engineer III-QA Test Automation

What youll be doing...

As a Router QA Engineer you need to test routers running a Unix-based OS. You will be responsible for designing test cases, executing test plans, identifying defects, and collaborating with development teams to ensure high-quality router software and firmware releases. These are enriched with the complete SDLC process, while working with various stakeholders like business PoCs, foundational quality engineers, technical quality engineers and Solution Architects.

• Perform functional, regression, and system testing of routers running Unix-based OS.
• Validate networking protocols, features, and configurations.
• Ensure that the router software meets performance, scalability, and reliability requirements.
• Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts for router functionality.
• Automate functional tests using scripting languages such as Python, Shell, or TCL.
• Identify, document, and track software defects using bug tracking tools (JIRA, Bugzilla, etc.).
• Work closely with developers to reproduce and resolve issues.
• Test and validate networking protocols like OSPF, BGP, VLAN, IPv4/IPv6, TCP/IP, DHCP, and NAT.
• Use tools like Wireshark, tcpdump, and iperf for network traffic analysis and troubleshooting.
• Develop automation scripts for functional and regression testing.
• Work with test automation frameworks (Robot Framework, Pytest, etc.).
• Manage Unix/Linux environments for testing routers.
• Execute Unix commands and scripts to simulate real-world networking scenarios.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including development, DevOps, and customer support.
• Prepare test reports, log analysis, and provide feedback for software improvements.

You'll need to have:

• Bachelors degree or three or more years of work experience.
• Three or more years of relevant experience in functional testing of networking devices, preferably routers.
• Networking Knowledge: Strong understanding of routing and switching concepts.
• Unix/Linux Expertise: Experience with Unix/Linux OS, shell scripting, and command-line tools.
• Testing Tools: Experience with JIRA, TestRail, Wireshark, tcpdump, and automation frameworks.
• Automation Skills: Proficiency in Python, Shell scripting, or TCL for test automation.
