We are looking for a UX Designer to join our team, bringing expertise in designing features for websites and enterprise platforms. In this role, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including UX designers, product owners, and developers to research, ideate, and refine user experiences that align with both user needs and technical constraints.
As a UX Designer, you will report directly to the UX Director and work under the mentorship of a Senior or Lead Designer to further develop your design, research, and testing skills. You will play a critical role in delivering impactful UX solutions for HMHCO s suite of educational products.
Key Responsibilities:
UX Deliverables: Create and refine UX documentation, including user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and interaction design specs, to clearly communicate design concepts and solutions.
Collaborate and Ideate: Work closely with Senior/Lead UX Designers, product owners, and developers to define, ideate, and design new features for our web-based and enterprise platforms.
User-Centered Design: Employ a strong User-Centered Design approach to solve complex design challenges, ensuring your designs result in positive, engaging, and effective user experiences.
Design Process: Support the design process by participating in research activities, ideation workshops, and usability testing. Collaborate on testing plans and iteration of designs based on feedback and testing results.
Agile Methodology: Work effectively within an Agile development process, communicating and adapting designs as needed in close partnership with engineering and other teams.
Best Practices: Ensure adherence to UX methodologies, design best practices, and HMHCO s design system to maintain consistency and quality across projects.
Key Requirements:
Education: Bachelor s degree in design, HCI, Interaction Design, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
Experience: 3-5 years of relevant UX design experience, with a strong focus on creating user-friendly, data-driven experiences for websites or enterprise software platforms.
User-Centered Design: Proven experience with User-Centered Design principles, demonstrated through a portfolio showcasing responsive web designs, user flows, wireframes, and prototypes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Experience collaborating with product owners, developers, and other stakeholders in a cross-functional team environment.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills. Comfortable presenting design concepts and ideas with clarity and confidence to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Design Tools: Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Axure, Miro, and JIRA.
Agile Experience: Experience working within an Agile development environment and familiarity with Agile workflows and tools.
Nice-to-Have:
Gamification Experience: A passion for or experience in game design or gamification is a plus.
Design for Education: Experience designing digital products for educational environments or with a focus on learner engagement and teacher/administrator workflows.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
Regular use of a computer and other office equipment.
Comfortable collaborating with colleagues in-person, via conference calls, and through online meetings.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
