EHS Specialist

Job Purpose

This role is to develop and implement policies to ensure a safe and healthy work environment. This position is responsible for managing all aspects of EHS programs for the organization including the tactical deployment of global EHS strategy, EHS systems, training, customer pre-qualifications, risk management processes, and incident prevention and management.

Role & responsibilities

• Establish, develop, document, and implement processes, systems, and procedures to build and sustain Zero Harm culture.
• Support strategy initiatives for continual improvement of EHS management system. Identify long term strategic action plans.
• Conduct safety meetings, orientations, and EHS training to assure employees understand the hazards associated with the scope of work and maintain the records of the aforementioned.
• Lead site project safety programs including Safety Meetings, Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Rigging & Lifting, Scaffolding & Ladders, Confined Space, Hazardous Materials, and Material Handling
• Support the contractor pre-qualification process and own the onsite contractor safety program.
• Assist in coordinating activities to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations related to environmental, health and safety requirements.
• Lead accident investigation process and root cause analysis including tracking and recording keeping requirements.
• Regularly conduct site safety assessment/audits including tracking and reporting corrective action status.
• Provide technical guidance to employees regarding environment, health and safety related issues or concerns, and regulatory compliance
• Maintain and improve safe work standards and practices.
• Support implementation of global EHS programs for the organization including compliance audits, industrial hygiene assessments, incident management processes, risk assessments with a specific focus to emphasis on the training programs and processes.

Preferred candidate profile

• Minimum 7+ years of relevant experience in diving EHS in manufacturing of heavy engineering or capital equipment / project sites is preferred with Bachelors degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field required; Masters degree desirable.
