NMS Administrator (Site24x7 + APM)

Role & responsibilities

We are seeking a skilled NMS Administrator (Site24x7 + APM) to manage and optimize network and application monitoring systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Site24x7, APM tools, and other network performance monitoring solutions to ensure the availability and performance of IT infrastructure, applications, and services.

This role involves monitoring, incident management, performance optimization, and automation to improve operational efficiency. The candidate should be proficient in network monitoring, application performance analysis, alert management, and reporting.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

• Administer and maintain Site24x7 NMS & APM tools for real-time monitoring of IT infrastructure, applications, and cloud services.
• Configure monitoring policies, thresholds, alerts, and dashboards to track system and application health.
• Set up and manage synthetic monitoring, real user monitoring (RUM), and transaction tracing in APM tools.
• Monitor network devices, servers, databases, cloud platforms, and applications for availability, performance, and security.
• Analyze network traffic, system logs, and application metrics to identify performance bottlenecks and troubleshoot issues.
• Integrate Site24x7 with third-party tools (ITSM, DevOps, cloud monitoring) for streamlined operations.
• Automate alert management using webhooks, scripts, and AI-based incident response tools.
• Implement custom plugins and APIs to extend monitoring capabilities for specific applications and services.
• Generate and analyze performance reports, SLA compliance metrics, and capacity planning insights.
• Work with IT teams to fine-tune monitoring strategies and proactively prevent outages.
• Participate in incident management, root cause analysis (RCA), and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support on-call and escalation processes for major incidents and performance degradations.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Strong experience in Site24x7 setup, configuration, and administration.
• Hands-on expertise with APM tools (e.g., Site24x7 APM, New Relic, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, Datadog).
• Knowledge of network monitoring protocols (SNMP, ICMP, Syslog, NetFlow).
• Experience in cloud monitoring (AWS CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Google Cloud Operations).
• Proficiency in application performance monitoring techniques, including distributed tracing and anomaly detection.
• Understanding of network architecture, TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs, and load balancers.
• Ability to create custom monitoring plugins, scripts, and automation workflows using Python, Shell, or PowerShell.
• Familiarity with log management tools (ELK Stack, Splunk, Graylog) for correlating performance data.
• Experience integrating monitoring tools with ITSM (ServiceNow, Jira).
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve performance issues.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Preferred candidate profile

• Experience with container monitoring (Docker, Kubernetes, Prometheus, Grafana).
• Knowledge of AI-based anomaly detection and predictive analytics in monitoring.
• Experience working with multi-cloud and hybrid IT environments.
• Understanding of ITIL practices for incident, problem, and change management.
• Knowledge of business impact analysis and SLA monitoring.
