Indirect Tax Manager

Role & responsibilities

• Tax Compliance & Reporting:
• Oversee the preparation, filing, and timely submission of indirect tax returns, including GST, VAT, and other related tax filings.
• Ensure accurate and timely compliance with indirect tax regulations and provide guidance to internal stakeholders.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual indirect tax provisions for financial reporting purposes.
• Tax Advisory:
• Provide tax advisory services to business units regarding indirect tax implications of various business transactions, including sales, purchases, and imports/exports.
• Advise on the indirect tax impact of business strategies, contracts, and corporate restructuring.
• Tax Planning & Strategy:
• Analyze the indirect tax structure of the organization and propose tax-efficient strategies to optimize tax positions.
• Work with internal teams (finance, legal, and operations) to ensure tax efficiency across all business processes and transactions.
• Audits & Assessments:
• Manage and coordinate with external and internal auditors during indirect tax audits and assessments.
• Respond to notices and queries from tax authorities, and represent the organization during tax audits and investigations.
• Tax Litigation Management:
• Handle any disputes or litigation related to indirect taxes, including managing the preparation of legal arguments, liaising with tax consultants, and appearing before tax authorities as necessary.
• Stakeholder Management:
• Build and maintain relationships with government bodies, tax consultants, auditors, and internal departments.
• Collaborate with business leaders and provide regular updates on changes in indirect tax laws and regulations.
• Training & Development:
• Provide training to internal teams on indirect tax compliance and best practices.
• Stay updated on indirect tax law changes and impart knowledge to relevant departments.
