Lab Technician- Highway (Bituminous, Pavement)-Varanasi-Uttar Pradesh

Job description

Key Responsibilities:

Material Testing and Analysis:

• Conduct tests on construction materials (Bituminous, asphalt, concrete, soil, aggregates) to ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.
• Perform gradation analysis, moisture content determination, compaction tests, and other relevant material assessments.
• Ensure the accuracy of all test results and maintain detailed records of findings.

Sample Collection:

• Collect samples of materials from different phases of the road construction project for laboratory analysis.
• Follow proper sampling procedures to ensure representative material samples are obtained.

Equipment Operation and Maintenance:

• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment such as sieves, compression machines, ovens, and scales.
• Ensure that all testing equipment is calibrated and functioning properly.

Quality Assurance and Compliance:

• Ensure that all tests and analyses comply with local, national, and international road construction standards (e.g., ASTM, AASHTO).
• Identify any deviations from standards and report findings to the construction management team.

Data Management and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate logs and reports of all tests performed.
• Communicate test results to engineers, project managers, and other relevant stakeholders in a timely manner.
• Assist in preparing reports for project documentation.

Safety and Environmental Compliance:

• Adhere to all safety protocols and environmental regulations in handling materials and equipment.
• Ensure the proper disposal of waste materials in compliance with environmental guidelines.

Qualifications:

• Education: Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Material Science, or a related field.
• Experience: 4-8 years of experience as a lab technician in road construction or materials testing.
• Technical Skills:
• Knowledge of testing procedures for construction materials (asphalt, concrete, soil).
• Familiarity with lab equipment and tools used in material testing.
• Understanding of relevant standards (ASTM, AASHTO, etc.).
• Soft Skills:
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.

Work Conditions:

• Ability to work in a laboratory and outdoor settings (fieldwork).
• May require long hours or weekend work depending on project demands.
• Physical ability to handle heavy materials and equipment.
