Job Title: FME Engineer (Feature Manipulation Engine Engineer)

Job Summary: The Safe Software FME Form & FME Flow Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing solutions using FME (Feature Manipulation Engine) technology. Safe FME is a powerful data integration and transformation platform used to connect and transform data across various formats and systems. The engineer will work closely with clients and internal teams to understand data requirements, develop custom workflows, and optimize data processing using FME.

Responsibilities:

1. FME Workflow Development: Design and develop FME workflows to enable data transformation, integration, and migration between different systems and data formats.
2. Data Migration & Integration: Map & Migrate Utility data from source to Destination, Integrate data from diverse sources, including databases, GIS systems, CAD files, spreadsheets, and web services, using FME's extensive connectors and transformers.
3. Customization: Customize FME workflows to meet specific project requirements, ensuring seamless data flow and accurate data translation.
4. Performance Optimization: Optimize FME workflows to enhance processing speed, reduce resource consumption, and improve overall data handling efficiency.
5. Data Validation: Implement data validation checks within FME workflows to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and quality.
6. Automation: Develop automation scripts and routines using FME's scripting capabilities to streamline repetitive tasks and improve productivity.
7. Geospatial Analysis: Utilize FME to perform geospatial analysis, such as spatial queries, geometric operations, and spatial enrichment.
8. Data Visualization: Create data visualization outputs and reports using FME's capabilities to facilitate data interpretation and decision-making.
9. Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues related to data transformation, performance, and integration within FME workflows.
10. Collaboration: Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to gather requirements, provide technical expertise, and deliver effective FME solutions.
11. Documentation: Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including workflow specifications, data schemas, and implementation guides.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in computer science, Geomatics, Geography, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
• Proven experience in designing and implementing FME workflows for data integration and transformation.
• Strong knowledge of geospatial concepts and experience with GIS data formats (e.g., Shapefile, GeoJSON ,GML, etc.).
• Proficiency in FME Desktop and FME Server. Knowledge of FME Cloud is a plus.
• Familiarity with different data sources and formats, including databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL), CAD files, and web services (REST, SOAP).
• Scripting skills in Python or other relevant languages to extend FME functionality and automation.
• Understanding of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) principles and data migration strategies.
• Problem-solving mindset with the ability to analyze complex data challenges and design effective solutions.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with clients and effectively convey technical concepts.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.
