Job Purpose:
The Dean of Students is responsible for fostering a supportive and inclusive school environment by ensuring the well-being, safety and personal development and academic progress of students. The role involves working closely with students, parents, teachers and school leadership to promote positive behavior, emotional well-being and a culture of care aligned with IB/CIE philosophy and values.
Key Responsibilities
Student Well-being and Support:
• Develop and implement pastoral care policies and strategies in line with IB/CIE principles. • Act as a key point of contact for students needing emotional, social or academic support. • Oversee student pastoral, mentorship and counseling programs, coordinating with school counselors and external professionals as required. • Monitor student behavior, attendance, and overall well-being, providing early intervention when necessary. • Promote and maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive school environment.
Behavior Management & Safeguarding:
Organize pastoral activities, including well-being workshops, peer support programs, and awareness campaigns. • Lead initiatives to promote mental health, inclusivity, and diversity within the school. • Work with student councils and leadership teams to encourage student voice in pastoral care matters. • Support the transition of new students by implementing induction and buddy programs.
Parental and Stakeholder Collaboration:
• Act as a liaison between parents, students, and teachers on pastoral concerns. • Communicate effectively with parents regarding student well-being and behavior. • Organize parent workshops and seminars on student development, mental health, and positive parenting strategies. Administrative & Compliance Responsibilities: • Maintain accurate records of student well-being cases, interventions, and outcomes. • Ensure compliance with IB/CIE requirements related to student support and safeguarding. • Prepare reports and updates for school leadership regarding student pastoral care trends and improvements. • Monitor academic progress of students
• Lead the pastoral team (HRT and FT) in their role of monitoring and supporting individual academic progress Any other duties as assigned by the Heads
