Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Scientist with deep expertise in the insurance industry . The successful candidate will apply advanced analytics, machine learning, and predictive modeling to solve complex challenges in insurance, such as risk assessment, customer segmentation, claims optimization, and fraud detection. With 5 years of hands-on experience, you will play a pivotal role in driving business outcomes, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and mentoring junior data scientists.

Key Responsibilities:

Advanced Data Modeling:
- Develop and deploy predictive models for underwriting, risk assessment, fraud detection, and customer segmentation.
- Use machine learning algorithms and statistical techniques to optimize claims processing and improve pricing strategies.
- Analyze large, complex datasets from various sources (internal and external) to extract actionable insights.
Insurance-Specific Analytics:
- Apply actuarial models and data science techniques to improve risk management and underwriting processes.
- Develop and enhance claims prediction models, optimizing claims handling and minimizing loss ratios.
- Build models to predict customer lifetime value, retention, and churn for personalized policy offerings.
Data Collection, Cleaning Processing:
- Extract, clean, and preprocess data from multiple structured and unstructured data sources.
- Ensure data integrity and consistency throughout the analysis pipeline.
Collaboration Stakeholder Engagement:
- Work closely with actuarial, underwriting, claims, and product teams to ensure data science models align with business objectives.
- Communicate complex analytical findings in a clear, concise manner to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Provide actionable insights to help optimize business operations and drive decision-making.
Mentorship Thought Leadership:
- Mentor junior data scientists and foster a collaborative and innovative data science culture.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, applying them to improve business processes in the insurance domain.
Performance Monitoring Model Optimization:
- Continuously evaluate and refine models, ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in real-world applications.
- Implement A/B testing and experimental design frameworks to measure model performance and business impact.

Qualifications:

Education:
- Bachelor s or Master s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Computer Science, or a related field. A Ph.D. is a plus.
Experience:
- 8+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or a related field, with at least 5 years in the insurance industry.
- Demonstrated experience building and deploying models for insurance-related use cases such as underwriting, claims management, pricing optimization, or fraud detection.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in programming languages like Python, R, or Scala.
- Strong knowledge of machine learning libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn) and statistical tools.
- Experience with data manipulation and analysis using SQL, Pandas, and Numpy.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark) is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of actuarial models and regulatory frameworks in the insurance industry.
Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently on complex projects.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively share insights with various teams.
- Leadership skills with a strong focus on collaboration and teamwork .
