Job Description

Position Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to take on a leadership role within our dynamic and growing team. As the Proposal Development Manager , you will be responsible for overseeing the Proposal Development Specialist team while maintaining a hands-on role in crafting compelling pitches and proposals that drive business growth. You will lead and develop the team, ensuring high-quality outputs, efficient workflows, and strategic alignment with business objectives.

In this role, you will take ownership of the overall quality of proposal content, direct team workflows and priorities, and evolve proposal resources to meet business needs. A key focus will be on improving team efficiency, reducing the cost of work acquisition, and increasing the overall win rate of proposals. Additionally, you will play a leadership role in analyzing feedback and proposal analytics to enhance future proposals. You will also take the lead on larger, more complex programmes of work, deepening your expertise in advanced methodologies.

Team Leadership & Management

Line manage the Proposal Development Specialist team, providing coaching, development, and performance management
Oversee the team s workload, ensuring priorities are aligned with business needs
Foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture that supports professional growth and development

Proposal Strategy & Development

Lead the creation of high-quality proposals, working closely with Project Directors and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure alignment with client needs and business objectives
Ensure proposals adhere to industry regulations, client requirements, and compliance standards
Take the lead on complex proposals, particularly for larger programmes of work, and refine proposal methodologies for increased effectiveness

Quality Assurance & Process Improvement

Take accountability for the overall quality and impact of proposal content developed by the team
Continuously improve proposal templates, resources, and tools to optimize efficiency and effectiveness
Standardize best practices to ensure consistency in messaging, structure, and formatting across all proposals

Analytics, Feedback & Continuous Improvement

Use proposal analytics, win/loss data, and stakeholder feedback to identify trends and improve future proposals
Work closely with leadership to refine strategies based on performance data, ensuring an ongoing enhancement of proposal effectiveness
Develop key metrics to measure and track the success of proposals and team performance

Education, Experience, and other Key Skills

o Undergraduate or advanced degree in life sciences, data sciences, business, or a related discipline

o 8+ years of experience in consulting (preferably life sciences) with a strong background in proposal development

o Prior experience leading or managing a team, with a proven ability to develop and mentor team members

o Strong leadership and team management capabilities

o Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels

o Strategic mindset with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and implement improvements

o Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple proposals simultaneously, ensuring timely submission without compromising quality

o Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically PowerPoint, Excel, and Word

o Strong formatting and visual storytelling skills to enhance the impact of proposals
