Chief Manager: Employee Relations

Context & Role

The Employee Relations resource is responsible for leading and managing the employee relations function within the organization. This role involves developing and implementing employee relations strategies, handling complex employee issues, ensuring compliance with relevant local laws, and fostering a positive work environment. The Employee Relations resource will work closely with HR Business Partners, Functional Managers, Legal & FCU team to resolve conflicts, improve employee satisfaction, and maintain a productive workplace culture.

Key responsibilities

• Address and mediate conflicts between employees or between employees and management to ensure fair and equitable solutions.
• Ensure that company policies related to employee conduct, workplace behaviour, and disciplinary actions are consistently applied and understood by all employees.
• Ensure adherence to labour laws and regulations, and keep the organization updated on relevant legal changes.
• Support & guide HRBPs to conduct thorough investigations into complaints, grievances, or breaches of company policy.
• Conduct investigations in complex employee matters and recommend appropriate action
• Provide training for managers and employees on ER-related topics such as conflict resolution, POSH, legal compliance, etc.
• Act as a trusted resource for employees to raise concerns, seek advice, and understand their rights and responsibilities.
• Maintain detailed records of ER cases, prepare reports on trends, and advise senior management on potential risks.
• Work with leadership to develop strategies that foster a positive organizational culture and improve employee satisfaction.
• Act as IC co-ordinator for maintain records, filing returns, communications and ensuring related compliances.
• Manage outplacement vendor/s.
• Create awareness through campaign on topics like Malpractice Matrix, Speak up campaign, Meeting Etiquettes, POSH, etc. for entire organisation.
• Partner with various investigating functions internally and external agencies (as required) on various investigations relating to employees.
• Support the team and coordinate with Internal Audit and Compliance teams in managing the Audit, discussion on the findings and agree on a mitigation plan

Skills/Knowledge:

To be successful in this role, the individual should have:

• Excellent knowledge of employment laws and regulations
• Experience in conflict resolution and mediation
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to handle confidential information
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to analyze data and provide insights for improvement
• Proven work experience as an Employee Relations Specialist or similar role

Qualification & Experience:

Preferably a Post-Graduate in Human Resource Management and/or with a law certification/degree with total 7-10 yrs of experience, of which at least 2 years in managing employee relations.
