DB2 Database Administrator

We are seeking a skilled and experienced DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, maintain, and optimize our DB2 database environments . The DBA will ensure stability, security, performance, and scalability while supporting business and application development needs. This role requires hands-on expertise in DB2 databases , including installation, configuration, performance tuning, troubleshooting , and disaster recovery planning .

• Database Management & Maintenance:

  • Install, configure, and upgrade DB2 database software on platforms such as z/OS and LUW .
  • Manage database instances, schemas, and database objects (tables, indexes, stored procedures).
  • Perform database backup, recovery , and disaster recovery using DB2 tools.

• Performance Optimization & Monitoring:

  • Monitor database performance and optimize queries, indexes, and configurations.
  • Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks and connectivity issues .
  • Implement and manage database security , including user access control and auditing .

• Collaboration & Support:

  • Work with developers to design efficient database structures and optimize application integration .
  • Support database-related issues during development , testing , and production phases.
  • Review SQL code to ensure performance optimization and adherence to standards .

• Capacity Planning & Reporting:

  • Monitor database growth and plan for capacity requirements to align with business needs.
  • Analyze system usage and recommend scaling or upgrades .
  • Generate regular reports on database health , performance , and usage metrics .

• Compliance & Documentation:

  • Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Ensure regular application of patches and updates to mitigate vulnerabilities.

• Expertise in IBM DB2 database administration on z/OS or LUW platforms.
• Proficiency in SQL , performance tuning , and database optimization techniques.
• Experience with DB2 utilities (e. g. , RUNSTATS , REORG , LOAD , UNLOAD ).
• Strong knowledge of backup , recovery , and disaster recovery strategies.
• Understanding of database security and compliance best practices.

• Experience with database replication and high-availability solutions (e. g. , HADR ).
• Knowledge of automation tools and scripting languages (e. g. , Shell , Python ).
• Familiarity with monitoring tools (e. g. , IBM Data Studio , third-party solutions).
• Exposure to DevOps practices and database integration within CI/CD pipelines .

• Bachelor s degree in Computer Science , Information Technology , or a related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience as a DB2 DBA in a production environment .
• IBM Certified Database Administrator or equivalent certification (preferred).
