Role & responsibilities

Academic Deans occupy a unique place in the continuum of academic administrators, as the facilitating link among Department Chairs/School Directors, faculty members, staff, students, and University leadership. All activities and roles of the Deans are undertaken in light of furthering the best interests of the students at Reputed University in Himachal Pradesh.

The Dean's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• coordinating the development of and implementing the University Vision and Goals Statement;
• leading University strategic goals and initiatives;
• developing a budget;
• managing the fiscal affairs of the University;
• leading and coordinating College strategic planning and curriculum development;
• supervising, evaluating, and supporting Departments/Schools in a manner that promotes excellence in instruction, scholarly and creative productivity, and service at University;
• assessing and making recommendations about the distribution and utilization of the University's facilities and space;
• leading and coordinating the governance of the University;
• leading the processes of University administrator selection and overseeing the processes of faculty and staff selection and retention;
• coordinating the professional development of University administrators and staff;
• evaluating College administrators and staff in consultation with faculty and staff;
• managing College administrators and staff;
• evaluating Department Chairs/School Directors in consultation with Departmental/School faculty and staff;
• evaluating overall Departmental/School productivity in instruction, scholarly and creative productivity, and service responsibilities;
• advising and providing recommendations on University policies and procedures, especially in the academic area; and
• developing, leading, and encouraging fundraising in support of the university's goals and the goals of its departments and programs, as well as outreach and public service efforts.

Preferred candidate profile

• PhD in computer science
• A distinguished record of teaching, scholarly achievement, and service that merits appointment as a tenured full professor.
• Significant administrative experience in higher education, demonstrating effective leadership and management skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with a commitment to fostering an inclusive and dynamic academic community
