Responsibilities:
1. Library Management:
- Organize, catalog, and maintain books, periodicals, and digital resources.
- Develop and implement library policies and procedures.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of library resources.
- Ensure the library is a welcoming and engaging space for students and staff.
2. Promoting Reading & Literacy:
- Organize reading programs, book clubs, and literary events.
- Encourage students to develop a habit of reading through engaging activities.
- Recommend age-appropriate and curriculum-based reading materials.
3. Record Keeping & Administration:
- Maintain borrowing records and track overdue books.
- Prepare reports on library usage, book circulation, and resource needs.
- Manage the library budget and recommend book purchases.
4. Supporting Students & Teachers:
- Assist students in finding books and other materials suitable for their reading level and academic needs.
- Guide students on how to use reference materials and digital resources.
- Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources into the curriculum.
5. Library Technology & Digital Resources:
- Maintain and update digital library databases.
- Assist students and teachers in using e-books and online research tools.
- Stay updated with emerging educational technologies relevant to library services.
6. Supervision & Discipline:
- Ensure that students follow library rules and maintain a quiet, conducive learning environment.
- Supervise library assistants or student volunteer
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's or Masters degree in Library Science (B.Lib./M.Lib.) or a related field.
- Previous experience in school libraries is preferred.
- Familiarity with library management systems and digital learning resources.
- Strong communication and organizational skills to interact with students, teachers, and staff.
- Enthusiasm for fostering a reading culture among students.
- Patience, resilience, and dedication to students and education.
- Understanding the unique needs of EWS students.
