Web Developer

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain Drupal-based websites, ensuring they are scalable, secure, and optimized for performance across different devices and platforms.
• Write clean, efficient, and reusable PHP code; integrate front-end technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript to build responsive and interactive web interfaces.
• Design, manage, and optimize MySQL or other database systems, ensuring data integrity and performance.
• Ensure that websites load quickly and are SEO-friendly through optimization techniques such as caching, minification, and lazy loading.
• Work closely with project managers, designers, and other developers to ensure the successful delivery of projects on time and within scope.
• Identify and resolve issues related to functionality, security, and performance of websites.
• Implement web security protocols and maintain an up-to-date understanding of security risks and best practices.
• Maintain thorough documentation of code, development processes, and platform configurations for internal reference and handover.
• Stay current with emerging web technologies, trends, and Drupal updates, and continuously improve development skills and processes.

Required skills and qualifications.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field (Master's degree or relevant certifications preferred).

• Expert knowledge in Drupal architecture, modules, themes, and site-building. Proficiency with Drupal 9/10+ and familiarity with the latest versions and features.

• Strong experience in server-side scripting and PHP development, including understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) principles.

• Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (including frameworks like jQuery, React, or Vue.js), and front-end frameworks (e.g., Bootstrap).

• Solid understanding of MySQL and other relational database management systems, including designing schemas, writing complex queries, and ensuring database optimization.

• Experience using version control systems such as Git for collaborative development.

• Knowledge of web application security practices and secure coding techniques to prevent vulnerabilities such as XSS, SQL injection, and CSRF.

• Familiarity with website optimization techniques such as image optimization, caching, CDN integration, and other performance improvements.

• Ability to design and implement responsive, mobile-first websites using front-end frameworks and CSS pre-processors like SASS/LESS.

• Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
