Position Title: Safety Steward/s
Industry: Infrastructure Underground Sanitary Sewer (UGSS) Piping Projects
Experience: 1 to 3 years
Location: Chennai
Reports to: Project Manager/Safety Manager

Job Summary

Role is responsible for enforcing safety protocols, ensuring a safe working environment, and preventing accidents on the project site. Employed must ensure maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations and minimizing risks associated with underground construction activities. Must have to report to the Safety Coordinator/Manager in tandem with all the relevant records for regulating and preventing accidents and injuries; assist in monitoring daily operations to identify and mitigate potential hazards.

Key Responsibilities

- Monitor all such construction activities to ensure compliance with safety protocols.

- Identify and report potential safety hazards on the construction site.

- Assist in implementing safety measures and emergency procedures.

- Provide support in case of emergencies, including administering first aid if necessary.

- Conduct regular safety inspections and report findings to the Safety Officer / PM / DPMs.

- Promote a culture of safety among workers by providing guidance and support.

- Ensure that personal protective equipment (PPE) is used correctly by all workers.

Skills and Qualifications

- Must possess Diploma/Degree in Industrial Health & Safety or Environmental Science & Safety or other related safety practices and regulations.

- - Strong observational and communication skills.

- Ability to stay calm and make quick decisions in emergencies.

- Basic first aid knowledge, fire safety, work at height, excavation engineering procedures

- Training in construction safety (e.g., OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour Construction Safety courses) is preferred.

- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
