The Head - Indirect Taxes will be responsible for overseeing and managing all indirect tax related matters, including Goods and Services Tax (GST), SEZ compliances, customs, and other regulatory obligations. This role demands expertise in SEZ operations and the ability to provide strategic guidance on tax planning and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Tax Planning and Strategy:
- Develop and implement tax-efficient strategies while ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
- Identify tax risks and opportunities for optimization.
2. Advisory Services:
- Provide insights on tax implications for business decisions, transactions, and expansion plans.
- Keep the organization updated on changes in indirect tax laws and their impact.
3. Indirect Tax Compliance:
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of all GST returns, reconciliations, and payments.
- Monitor tax compliance under applicable indirect tax laws, including GST, customs, and excise.
- Manage assessments, audits, and litigation related to indirect taxes.
4. SEZ Compliance:
- Handle all SEZ-related filings, approvals, and ongoing compliance requirements.
- Coordinate with SEZ Development Commissioners and other regulatory authorities.
- Guide the organization on availing SEZ benefits and maintaining compliance with SEZ policies.
5. Stakeholder Management:
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including consultants, auditors, and tax authorities.
- Represent the company in interactions with regulatory authorities, resolving queries and disputes.
6. Technology Integration:
- Leverage tax technology tools for compliance automation and reporting.
- Drive initiatives for process improvement using tax tech solutions.
7. Business Development:
- Identify and capitalize on opportunities for tax advisory services, expanding the client base in Indirect Taxes.
- Develop and present tailored business proposals to new and existing clients.
- Build long-term client relationships by understanding their needs and delivering solutions through Tax Tech platforms.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Educational Background: CA, LLB, or equivalent qualification in taxation or law.
- Experience: 8+ years of experience in indirect taxation, with at least 2 years focused on SEZ compliance.
- In-depth knowledge of GST, SEZ rules and regulations, customs laws, and related areas.
- Proven expertise in handling tax assessments, audits, and litigation.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage cross-functional teams.
