Job Summary:
The Refractory Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the proper execution of refractory works, hot cold insulation, and in-situ casting of cold insulation in industrial projects. The role involves supervising refractory and insulation teams, ensuring work quality, maintaining safety protocols, and coordinating with engineers and contractors to meet project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Refractory Insulation Work Supervision
Supervise the installation, repair, and maintenance of refractory linings in furnaces, boilers, kilns, and industrial equipment.
Oversee the execution of hot cold insulation for pipelines, equipment, and structures.
Ensure proper in-situ casting of cold insulation as per project requirements.
Verify the correct selection and application of refractory materials such as fire bricks, castables, ceramic fiber, and insulating concretes.
2. Team Management Coordination
Assign tasks and oversee the performance of refractory and insulation workers.
Coordinate with project engineers, contractors, and site managers to meet project deadlines.
Train workers on refractory installation techniques and safety practices.
3. Quality Control Compliance
Inspect refractory and insulation works to ensure high-quality workmanship.
Identify defects or failures in refractory linings and insulation systems and implement corrective actions.
Ensure compliance with engineering standards, project specifications, and industry regulations (ASTM, API, ISO, BS codes) .
4. Safety Risk Management
Enforce safety protocols for refractory works, hot cold insulation , and in-situ casting of cold insulation .
Ensure workers follow proper safety procedures when working at height and handling refractory materials.
Conduct safety briefings, toolbox talks, and risk assessments to mitigate hazards.
5. Documentation Reporting
Maintain records of refractory materials, manpower, and project progress.
Prepare and submit daily/weekly work reports to project management.
Communicate effectively with engineers and clients regarding work progress and challenges.
