We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Head of Hardware Engineering to spearhead the development of our in-house hardware engineering department. This role involves overseeing the end-to-end process of hardware product development, from initial design to mass production. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in hardware engineering, electronics, and embedded systems, with a strong grasp of product design, particularly in the context of sheet metal and related products such as kiosks or vending machines.
Roles and responsibilities:
Department Setup & Leadership:
Lead the establishment and development of the hardware engineering team, including recruiting top talent in design, electronics, embedded engineering, and testing.
Define the strategic direction of the hardware engineering department, aligning it with the company’s overall vision and goals.
Develop and implement best practices, processes, and standards to ensure high-quality and efficient hardware development.
Product Development:
Oversee the entire hardware development life cycle, including concept design, prototyping, testing, and mass production.
Collaborate closely with software, product, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration of hardware and software components.
Drive innovation in product design, focusing on aesthetics, functionality, and user experience, while maintaining cost-effectiveness
R&D Leadership:
Establish and lead an R&D division focused on developing cutting-edge hardware solutions that set new industry standards.
Stay abreast of the latest technological advancements and incorporate them into product development to maintain a competitive edge.
Vendor & Partner Management:
Manage relationships with external vendors and manufacturing partners, ensuring timely and quality production of components.
Evaluate and select appropriate materials, technologies, and partners to enhance product performance and durability.
Project Management:
Lead and manage multiple hardware development projects simultaneously, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success and efficiency of the hardware engineering team
Requirements
Experience : Minimum 15 years of experience in hardware engineering, with a proven track record of leading and managing teams.
Expertise: Strong background in electronics, embedded systems, and product design, particularly with sheet metal products.
Leadership: Demonstrated experience in setting up and leading a hardware engineering department or R&D division.
Product Focus : Experience in developing products such as kiosks, vending machines, or similar hardware-intensive products is highly desirable.
Skills: Excellent project management skills, with the ability to handle complex projects from concept to mass production
