Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Cable Technician to maintain, repair, and install mechanical cables in our manufacturing or industrial setting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of mechanical systems, cable maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair processes. This role ensures the smooth operation of machinery by performing regular inspections and maintenance of cable systems, as well as responding to breakdowns and equipment malfunctions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform regular inspections and maintenance of mechanical cables used in machinery, conveyors, and other systems.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical cable issues to minimize downtime.
• Replace or adjust mechanical cables as required, ensuring they meet manufacturer specifications.
• Install and modify cable systems, ensuring compliance with safety standards and operational efficiency.
• Maintain a comprehensive maintenance log, documenting work performed, parts used, and any significant findings.
• Coordinate with engineering and production teams to plan and execute necessary cable system upgrades or installations.
• Follow safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment when handling cables and equipment.
• Assist in identifying and implementing improvements to increase the longevity and reliability of cable systems.
• Participate in scheduled maintenance programs and ensure preventive maintenance tasks are completed.
• Support emergency repairs and troubleshooting during production breakdowns.
• Comply with environmental, health, and safety regulations related to mechanical systems and cable management.
• Maintain an inventory of necessary spare parts, tools, and equipment for cable maintenance.
• Assist with the training of junior maintenance technicians on cable maintenance techniques.

Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; certification in mechanical maintenance, electrical engineering, or a related field preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, focusing on cable systems, machinery, or industrial equipment.
• Skills:
• Knowledge of mechanical systems and cable types (e.g., power cables, control cables, wire ropes).
• Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment effectively.
• Familiarity with safety procedures and protocols in industrial settings.
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
• Physical stamina and ability to lift, bend, and work in confined spaces as necessary.
• Certifications: Relevant certifications in mechanical or electrical systems are a plus (e.g., OSHA safety certification).

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand, kneel, crouch, and climb ladders for extended periods.
• Ability to work in a variety of environments (e.g., noisy, hot, or confined spaces).
