Associate Consultant - ETL Testing (3-6 yrs)

Roles and Responsibilities :

Requirement Analysis :

- Understand the ETL requirements and data flow from source to target.

- Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather testing requirements.

Test Planning :

- Develop a comprehensive test plan that outlines the scope, objectives, resources, schedule, and testing strategy for the ETL process.

Test Case Design :

- Create detailed test cases based on ETL specifications, covering various scenarios including positive, negative, boundary, and performance cases.

Data Validation :

- Validate the data extracted from source systems to ensure it matches the expected results.

- Perform data quality checks to identify inconsistencies, duplicates, or missing data.

Testing ETL Processes :

- Execute test cases for all stages of the ETL process, including extraction, transformation, and loading into the target system.

- Test data transformations to verify that data is accurately converted and mapped.

Performance Testing :

- Assess the performance of ETL processes to ensure they meet acceptable processing times and resource usage.

Defect Identification and Reporting :

- Identify and document defects or data issues found during testing.

- Collaborate with development teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues.

Regression Testing :

- Conduct regression testing after changes to the ETL processes to ensure that new code does not affect existing functionality.

Automation :

- Where applicable, implement automated testing solutions to improve efficiency and repeatability of ETL tests.

Documentation :

- Maintain comprehensive documentation of test cases, test results, defects, and testing procedures.

Collaboration :

- Work closely with ETL developers, data architects, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on data quality and integrity.

Post-Deployment Testing :

- Perform validation checks in production environments to confirm that ETL processes are functioning as expected after deployment.

Skills Required :

- 3-6 yrs of experience is required as an ETL Tester.

- Strong understanding of ETL processes and data warehousing concepts.

- Proficiency in SQL for data validation and manipulation.

- Experience with ETL tools (e.g., Informatica, Talend, SSIS).

- Familiarity with data quality concepts and tools.

- Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.

- Good communication and collaboration skills.
