Job Description:

Essential Job Functions:
India Tax Law Knowledge: Possess in-depth knowledge of India s tax laws, including GST and TDS and apply them effectively to the accounts payable process.
TDS Return Filing and Preparation of Audit Statements: Manage the preparation and timely filing of TDS returns on a quarterly basis, ensuring accuracy in tax deductions and payments. Assist in preparing audit statements and documentation required for internal and external audits.
Tax Audits & Assessments: Assist with tax audits and assessments, providing necessary documentation and clarifications as required by tax authorities.
Submission of Tax Filings: Ensure timely submission of tax-related documents, returns, and statements, minimizing the risk of penalties or non-compliance.
Invoice Verification & Processing: Ensure timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices, ensuring compliance with the company s policies and approval processes.
Payment Processing: Process payments to vendors and suppliers according to agreed terms, ensuring that all payments are accurately recorded in the accounts payable ledger.
Discrepancy Resolution: Identify and resolve any discrepancies between purchase orders, invoices, and payments, liaising with vendors and internal teams as needed.
Vendor Record Maintenance: Maintain up-to-date vendor information and ensure the proper documentation for each transaction.
Accrual Management: Manage accrual accounting entries for expenses and liabilities related to accounts payable, ensuring accurate month-end close processes.
Reconciliation of Accruals: Ensure that accruals are properly recorded, reconciled, and aligned with the financial statements during period-end reporting.
Financial Statement Preparation: Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements by providing accurate accounts payable and accrual information.
Internal Control: Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and statutory requirements related to accounts payable and tax filing processes.
Process Efficiency: Identify and recommend improvements to accounts payable processes, leveraging technology and automation tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Typically, 4-6 years of experience in accounts payable, with a deep understanding of India tax laws and statutory regulations.
Hands-on experience in preparing business income tax returns and statements for audits.
Strong knowledge and experience in TDS return filing and GST return compliance.
Proficiency in accounting software such as SAP.
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
Familiarity with tax filing software and online tax portals (e.g., GSTN, Income Tax Portal).
Experience with accrual accounting and financial reporting.
Other Qualifications:
Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including tax authorities.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines, particularly during tax filing seasons.
Tax Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of Indian Taxation (GST, TDS, Income Tax) and related statutory regulations.
Deadline-Driven: Ability to manage multiple priorities and adhere to tight deadlines, especially during peak tax seasons.
Confidentiality: Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive financial information with confidentiality and professionalism.
Process Improvement Mindset: Eagerness to identify areas for improvement and drive process enhancements within the accounts payable and tax compliance areas.
Advanced degree in a relevant field a plus
Relevant certifications (e.g., Six Sigma, PMP) or significant relevant work experience a plus
