Key skills for the job
The Fleet Management Specialist is responsible for managing the company's fleet of vehicles, ensuring efficient and cost-effective operations. This includes managing fuel consumption, monitoring vehicle mileage, tracking driver performance, and maintaining accurate records of fleet activity. The successful candidate will be able to identify and address potential issues, negotiate contracts, and approve bills and expenses.
Fuel Management:
o Monitor and analyze fuel consumption patterns to identify opportunities for cost savings
o Implement fuel-efficient driving practices and optimize vehicle routes
o Negotiate fuel contracts with suppliers to ensure competitive pricing
Mileage Monitoring:
o Track and record vehicle mileage to ensure accurate maintenance scheduling and insurance reporting
o Monitor driver behavior and identify areas for improvement
o Analyze mileage data to identify trends and optimize routes
Driver Management:
o Manage driver schedules, assignments, and performance evaluations
o Conduct regular driver reviews and provide training as needed
o Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
Identification of Bunks and Signing Contracts:
o Identify and negotiate contracts with bunking facilities to ensure convenient and cost-effective accommodations for drivers on long trips
o Review and approve contracts to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
Approving of Bills and Maintaining Reports:
o Review and approve fuel, maintenance, and repair bills for accuracy and completeness
o Maintain accurate records of fleet activity, including mileage logs, maintenance schedules, and fuel consumption data
o Prepare regular reports for management, including fleet performance metrics and cost savings analysis
Work Environment:
Work in a fast-paced office environment with frequent interactions with Transporters, drivers, Fuel bunks, vendors, and other stakeholders
Frequent travel is required for meetings, process streamlining, finalising vendors and training sessions
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Automobile or Mechanical, Logistics, or a related field
8 to 15 years of experience in fleet, driver, transporters and fuel management or a related field
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
