Construction Financial Comptroller

Role & responsibilities

1. Financial Management:

• Develop and maintain detailed project budgets, including labor, materials, overhead, and subcontractor costs.
• Monitor cash flow and ensure financial resources are used efficiently throughout the lifecycle of construction projects.

2. Cost Tracking & Forecasting:

• Track actual costs versus budgeted costs to identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
• Provide detailed cost forecasts, financial projections, and variance reports to senior management.

3. Financial Reporting:

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, reports, and dashboards for construction projects.

4. Contract & Risk Management:

• Work with legal and procurement teams to manage financial aspects of vendor and contractor agreements.

5. Project Financial Support:

• Assist project managers with cost control, ensuring project expenditures are in line with the approved budget.

6. Internal Controls & Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including tax requirements.
• Support external audits and internal financial audits as needed.

Preferred candidate profile

• 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience.
• Proven working experience as a Financial Controller.
• Must be familiar with Construction Project Management required
• Ability to interpret and analyze construction data, budgets, and financial reports.
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process.
• Excellent accounting software user and administration skills.
