Role & responsibilities
Primary Role (PCDA)
Plan:
1. Overview of manufacturing operations, including co-ordination of Operations, Engineering and Personnel & Administration Divisions / Departments and ensuring continuous operation of the plant to meet targeted Production safely.
2. Prepare the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) in consultation with the functional heads. Responsible for planning and strategy for production, specific consumption and cost and maximum utilisation of the plant capacity.
3. Maintaining robust preventive maintenance schedule to minimize breakdowns. Plan annual shutdowns while ensuring inventory management of product and engineering spares.
4. Continous improvement plan for effective operational control.
5. Co-ordinate activities with Marketing & Finance Departments for operational effectiveness.
Check:
1. Evaluate operations along with maintenance to ensure that they are conducted in a way that will control or reduce adverse impacts(if any).
2. Identify areas where cost could be controlled-especially the variable cost and also consumption of utilities and institute cost control measures.
3. Possess thorough knowledge of and stay updated on legal compliances/provisions and ensure 100% compliance.
4. Review working practices to ascertain if they are successful and if not, devise alternatives.
5. Ensure Safety regulations are followed across the Plant as per the safety SOP. Strict discipline has to be ensured in this regard.
6. Work with the Finance Team to ensure that the desired financial targets are met consistently for EBIDTA, PBT, PAT and other related parameters.
Do (Execute)
1. Act as the Factory Manager as per the provisions of the Factories' Act, 1948 and its subsequent amendments.
2. Drive achievement of budgeted production volumes and conversion cost.
3. Signing authority for all purchase and contracts upto a limit of Rs. 2 Lacs.
4. Responsible for wage settlements with trade unions.
5. Maintain Safety and security of plant machinery, assets and employees at all times with asistance of HSE and P&A teams.
6. Analyse daily material and energy balance and take corrective actions if required.
7. Ensure that the Pollution Control Board compliance standards are met for both effluent and gaseous discharge.
8. Conduct daily meetings with key personnel at plant to ensure smooth cross functional operations.
9. Implementation and maintenance of IMS in all Departments under direct supervision to meet business and IMS Policy objectivities besides overview. Implementation of all Organization-wide IMS initiatives.
10. Authority to incur expenditure to maintain Plant and Machinery and sign bank cheques within the DOA limits.
Act (Standardize)
1. Stock audit of Inventories including reconciliation.
2. Effectively managing HR & IR related issues and imparting discipline in workforce by creating harmonious work environment.
3. Review production and performance targets and KPIs on a daily basis.
4. Ensure timely intervention and implementation of the internal audit mechanism to inculcate the 'do it right the first time' practice.
5. Handling internal & external auditors.
6. Ensure that both internal and external communication with all stakeholders is maintained as per the engagement level and strategic intent of the company.
7. Ensure highest possible standards and compliance of Fire Safety and HSE at all times.
8. Final authority to decide on disposal or rework of non-conforming product.
9. Being a systems facilitator for Implementation IMS as per QMS ISO 9001:2015, EMS ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, EnMS 50001:2018, GHG ISO 14064:2006, RC 14001:2015
Secondary Role
1. Oversee projects.
2. Manage responsibilities of Operations Manager, QA Manager, Engineering Managers and Personnel Manager in their absence.
3. Responsible for the routine capital expenditure & budget. Should plan towards reducing the requirement of working capital at plant.
4. Strong commuication skills ought to be displayed while communicating NPL's vision, mission, values and business expectations to the teams below and reporting the performance upwards. 5. Determine staffing requirements (Manpower budgeting). Hiring and training of new employees. 6. Ensure that all managers and supervisors maintain high standards of house keeping in their area of responsibility.
Preferred candidate profile
1. 42-50 years of age.
2. 18-20 years work experience, out of which 3-5 years should be as an Operations/Production Head in a chemical/fertilizer/Petrochemical 'continous process plant
3. Atleast 5 years he should have functioned as head of operations reporting to the CEO or MD, with the underlying turnover of at least 100cr.
