Assistant Underwriter

What will your essential responsibilities include

Reviewing submissions including applications, policy wording, inspection reports, loss runs, and financial reports while conducting appropriate research to determine degree of risk for each account.

Underwriting under guidance (within limits); preparing individual cases for pricing and modelling, liaising with Actuaries to deliver technical pricing to Underwriter; using modelling systems to aid the underwriting process; conducting research as requested by Underwriter.

Assist the business group in maintaining and developing their book of business while developing the necessary skill sets and defined authority to accept risk in underwriting of a profitable account.

Controlling timely implementation of new and renewed accounts according to quality standards.

Understand the strategy and financial targets of AXA XL Insurance and those applicable to the business unit. You will be set appropriate individual targets and goals that support delivery of the business plan.

Reviewing loss control reports and managing policy endorsement requests to process any necessary changes to the policy.

Working collaboratively in a team environment, assisting underwriters, underwriting assistants, risk engineers, and management team.

You will report to the Underwriting Manager.
