Avalara - Product Manager - e-Invoicing Domain (8-12 yrs)

Job Description :

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Manager of Product Management to lead a high-performing team of 10 product managers based in India. This team works on Avalaras e-Invoicing and live reporting products, critical to enabling global tax compliance. As a key leader in our product organization, you will be responsible for driving product strategies, ensuring customer success, and aligning product development with Avalaras business goals.

Key Responsibilities :

Leadership & Team Management :

- Provide strategic and operational leadership to a team of 10 product managers, fostering a high-performance culture.

- Mentor and coach team members, ensuring professional growth and alignment with Avalaras core values.

- Promote collaboration across teams to drive innovation and operational excellence.

Product Strategy & Execution :

Translate the product vision and strategy into roadmaps for e-Invoicing and live reporting products.

- Collaborate with global stakeholders to ensure products align with customer needs, regulatory requirements, and market opportunities.

- Prioritize initiatives to deliver impactful customer and business outcomes.

Expertise :

- Proficiency in Peppol Framework : Strong understanding of the Peppol e-Delivery Network, its protocols (e.g., AS4, SMP, SML), and its use for cross-border e-Invoicing, with experience implementing Peppol-compliant solutions.

- Expertise in UBL (Universal Business Language) : In-depth knowledge of UBL standards used in e-Invoicing systems, including hands-on experience designing or managing solutions that leverage UBL for seamless data exchange.

- Integration and Data Standards Expertise : Knowledge of e-Invoicing data standards like UBL, XML, EDIFACT, and experience with API-driven integration for ERP systems such as SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, and Oracle.

Customer Focus & Market Expertise :

- Develop a deep understanding of customer workflows, pain points, and regulatory environments in the e-Invoicing and live reporting space.

- Collaborate with stakeholders to define and deliver product roadmaps that align with global compliance standards.

- Collaborate with UX/UI designers, developers, and other product owners to ensure cohesive product development.

- Engage with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders to gather insights and validate product decisions.

Operational Excellence :

- Define clear objectives, key results, and measurable outcomes for all initiatives.

- Implement best practices for product development, ensuring quality, scalability, and time-to-market.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, and program management, to ensure seamless execution.

Qualifications :

- 10+ years of experience in product management, including 3+ years of managing teams.

- Proven experience working on SaaS, tax compliance, or regulatory products is highly desirable.

- Strong understanding of API integrations, data pipelines, and system design.

- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and familiarity with microservices architecture.

- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, inspire, and mentor a diverse team.

- Deep understanding of product management principles, including user-centric design, agile methodologies, and data-driven decision-making.

- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience collaborating across global teams.

- Strong analytical skills with a focus on delivering measurable results.

- Certification in Agile Product Ownership (CSPO, PSPO) is a plus.

- Bachelors degree in business, engineering, or a related field; MBA preferred.
