Senior Data Scientist, Actimize

So, what s the role all about?

Actimize Premier is seeking a Senior Specialist Data Scientist to lead, manage, and contribute to the development of cutting-edge algorithms and machine learning solutions that are integral to our fraud detection and anti-money laundering (AML) platforms. You will guide and mentor a team of data scientists and analysts, while also contributing hands-on to developing innovative models, driving research initiatives, and implementing scalable, real-world applications.

• Leadership and Team Management:
  • Lead and mentor a team of data scientists and analysts, fostering a performance-oriented and collaborative culture.
  • Oversee all people aspects, including hiring, performance reviews, career development, and team alignment with organizational goals.
  • Inspire innovation and drive research initiatives to solve complex problems in fraud detection, AML, and cybercrime prevention.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:

• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and research teams, to align technical solutions with business objectives.
• Provide thought leadership and represent the team as an AI leader within the organization.

• Algorithm Development and Technical Contributions:
  • Design, develop, and optimize machine learning models and algorithms for fraud detection, AML, and behavioral analytics.
  • Leverage cloud platforms (e. g. , AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) for scalable AI/ML implementations.
  • Translate business requirements into actionable technical designs for production systems.
• Strategic Impact and Communication:
  • Deliver impactful presentations to executives, communicating complex technical ideas and solutions effectively.
  • Drive the adoption of cutting-edge advancements, including generative AI, behavioral modeling, and advanced statistical methods.

Have you got what it takes?

• BS or MS in Computer Science or related degree
• 8+ years of experience in the software or data science industry, with at least 3+ years in managing teams of data scientists and data analysts.
• Proven track record of algorithm development and statistical analysis of large datasets, balancing theoretical expertise with pragmatic problem-solving.
• Hands-on experience with Python for statistical analysis, machine learning, and data visualization.
• Practical experience working with databases (SQL/MySQL) and scripting languages (e. g. , Python, Perl).
• Exposure to generative AI and complex systems in large organizations.
• Technical Expertise:
• Proficiency in machine learning
• Familiarity with user behavior models, Bayesian statistics
• Experience with one of the cloud infrastructures and AI/ML platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
• Understanding of natural language processing (NLP) and its applications.
• Leadership and Soft Skills:
• Effective people management skills, including the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop a high-performing team.
• Managerial courage to provide direct, actionable feedback and make difficult team decisions when necessary.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex ideas effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Resourceful, adaptable, and passionate about innovation in fraud detection, AML, and AI.

You will have an advantage if you also have:

• Knowledge of user behavior modeling and Bayesian statistics.
• Expertise in developing performance-oriented cultures and fostering innovation.
• Experience in natural language processing (NLP).
• Experience with advanced data science techniques, including generative AI and complex behavioral modeling.
• Knowledge of visualization tools and frameworks to represent data insights effectively.
