Role & responsibilities
Land Matters:
Manage the legal aspects of land acquisition, lease agreements, and land-use rights.
Conduct due diligence on potential land acquisitions to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and mitigate risks.
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts related to land transactions, including purchase agreements, leases, and easements.
Liaise with government agencies, landowners, and external legal counsel to resolve land-related disputes and issues.
Regulatory Compliance:
Stay abreast of local, national, and international laws and regulations relevant to the tea industry, including environmental regulations, labor laws, and food safety standards.
Develop and implement compliance strategies to ensure adherence to legal requirements and industry standards.
Provide guidance and training to internal stakeholders on compliance matters, promoting a culture of ethical conduct and legal awareness.
Litigation Management:
Manage and oversee all litigation matters, including disputes with suppliers, customers, and regulatory bodies.
Work closely with external legal counsel to develop litigation strategies, assess legal risks, and represent the company in court proceedings.
Coordinate with internal departments to gather evidence, documents, and information relevant to legal disputes.
Implement measures to minimize legal exposure and resolve disputes efficiently through negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
Contract Management:
Review, draft, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts, including vendor agreements, distribution contracts, and service agreements.
Ensure that contractual arrangements comply with legal requirements and align with the company's objectives and policies.
Develop standardized contract templates and processes to streamline contract management procedures.
Legal Advisory and Risk Management:
Provide timely and practical legal advice to senior management and departmental heads on a wide range of legal issues affecting the business.
Identify and assess legal risks associated with business activities and propose risk mitigation strategies.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address legal implications in strategic decision-making processes.
