The Manufacturing Engineer position is responsible for the efficient build of high-quality aircraft, including but not limited to: configuration control, creation of planning, tooling (manufacturing aides), work sequencing, and designing efficient build methods. The successful candidate must have a strong mechanical background in sheet metal (Structures) and aircraft production experience.
Responsibilities:
Support work related to detail parts composite manufacturing and assembly operations within a manufacturing environment.
Develop documentation and procedures to ensure compliance with customer and regulatory production requirements and specifications.
Develop solutions for production problems related to materials, manufacturing processes, and tooling.
Interpret engineering drawings to determine requirements and objectives.
Act as a liaison between Design Engineering, Tooling department, Quality, and Production.
Provide technical support for improving methods, product design, and quality control processes.
Plan and document installation processes, tooling, and quality control methods to optimize manufacturing operations.
Ensure tasks are performed and inspected in compliance with JIS standards.
Identify and correct production and manufacturing issues as assigned.
Prepare and update production planning and assist with BOM identification and control.
Prepare tool orders and verify compliance with production specifications.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor s degree (Technical) plus 4-5 years of aviation experience.
Lean, 5S, and experience in a manufacturing environment.
Experience with process improvement and cost savings initiatives.
Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a diverse environment.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Experience using tools such as CAD CAM, CATIA, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Lotus Notes).
Working knowledge of aircraft assembly, sequencing, and manufacturing flow.
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing tools and exposure to composites, special processes (welding, painting, plating).
