Sr Associate Tax

In this vital role you'll have a solid background in managing and optimizing the companys tax operations, ensuring compliance with global tax regulations, and supporting strategic tax planning initiatives. This position requires expertise in both direct and indirect taxes, including Goods and Services Tax (GST) and withholding tax, with a focus on delivering accurate and timely tax filings, mitigating risks, and supporting financial objectives. The Tax Specialist will assist in ensuring compliance with local statutory requirements and regulatory standards and adherence to Amgens internal controls and policies. This role reports directly to the Amgen India Finance Manager:

• Assist in accurate and timely filing of all tax returns, including but not limited to corporate income tax, TDS, withholding tax and GST across multiple jurisdictions.
• Prepare and review tax reconciliations and deferred tax calculations for financial reporting purposes.
• Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations globally and assess their impact on the organization.
• Provide technical support in evaluating tax-efficient structures and business strategies.
• Assist in identifying opportunities for tax optimization while maintaining compliance.
• Support in M&A activities, transfer pricing reviews, and cross-border transactions.
• Manage GST compliance, including proper classification, invoicing, and reporting.
• Perform regular audits of GST processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Address inquiries and resolve issues related to GST with tax authorities.
• Assist in Overseeing of withholding tax compliance, including the correct application of double tax treaties.
• Manage documentation for tax exemptions, treaty benefits, and refunds.
• Assist in conducting tax audits and liaise with external auditors and tax authorities.
• Develop and maintain robust internal controls to mitigate tax-related risks.
• Address and resolve any disputes or audits with tax authorities.
• Work closely with finance, legal, and operational teams to ensure alignment of tax practices with business strategies.
• Provide tax advisory support to various business units to facilitate decision-making.
• Fulfills all statutory accounting and reporting activities as well as local tax authorities requirements, in compliance with applicable legislation
• Adherence to tax calendar in coordination with global stakeholders
• May participate in wider projects across Finance organization
• Support Amgens continuous improvement agenda, where applicable
• Contributes to a learning environment, supports the team growth and development, and enhances learning methodologies and technical tools where applicable.
