HARP is a proprietary protocol developed by Cisco that also provides redundancy by allowing multiple routers to share a virtual IP address.
Both VRRP and HARP function by electing a master router that is responsible for forwarding traffic to the virtual IP address, with other routers acting as backups.
In case the master router fails, one of the backup routers takes over as the new master to ensure continuous network connectivity.
