No Diwali Goodies for Me
My wife’s company gives her Diwali gifts, but mine doesn’t give me anything. Not even a small gift or a bonus. It’s kind of disappointing. Are you guys getting any Diwali gifts this year?

I'm at a loss here!
I got into a tiff with my boss today over a potential new hire. He's super smart technically, but he can sometimes struggle with social interaction
My boss loved this candidate who aced a coding challenge. I interviewed her too and found her lacking in practical experience
I told my boss my concerns, but he seemed offended that I'd question his judgment. I'm really worried about hiring someone who's not up to par. Should I talk to my boss's boss, or just let him hire her so I can say I told you so?
It feels like a lose-lose situation. If I escalate, my boss might hold a grudge and not recommend me for a promotion. But if we hire someone incompetent, I'll be stuck picking up the slack. Any advice?

It’s so complicated!
Things are going great at work, but I’ve got a huge crush on this coworker. Sometimes I feel like he is the one I’ve been searching for, but my introverted side is holding me back. He's on a different team, so I don't have many chances to talk to him. I see him on Fridays, but there's always a crowd around him. I can’t keep this to myself, but I’m also worried about breaking any office rules. I don’t know what to do!😐

Manager Wants Me to Shift Expiring Leaves🤔
My manager asked me to shift my approved December leaves to January, even though they expire in December. She assured me I could take them in January without updating Workday.
This feels a bit off—should I ask her to confirm in writing to avoid future issues?

My boss was recently fired.
I'm still processing the news. She was an excellent supervisor. HR said it was due to performance issues, but I've never heard of any complaints or write-ups.
I'm starting to update my resume, just in case. While I'm relieved it wasn't me, I'm also worried about my own job security.

Do managers hate hearing about problems?
Not a Manager!
Over the last two years, I've kept my manager aware of problems with my supervisor making data errors, not knowing how to do the work and misleading the manager about work being done when it's not. I've shown evidence/examples of the errors and misinformation as soon as they happen.
Manager is always surprised about the errors because supervisor says the data is right, he's just kicking the problems down the road so he doesn't have to admit he doesn't know how to do it. After two years, manager responds to me that she's aware of the issues with supervisor and the errors and says cheerleader things like "we're all a team" or tries to get him to write up all the procedures (which he delays and delays and delays since he doesn't know how to do it.)
My question is: should I just shut up about the ongoing problems? It seems like it irritates manager to hear about them and then she's annoyed at me🤷♂️😒

Healthy Mind
Excessive screen time can lead to eye strain, headaches, and fatigue. It's important to take regular breaks and find ways to relax to reduce these effects.
I suggest having spaces, such as a meditation room or a prayer room, where people can go to calm their minds.
What are your thoughts on it? Also, suggest some other ways !!

Manager interferes too much in scrum team
New project, new team setup, I am the only old scrum master. They hired an IT manager from Delloi*e meaning full consulting mindset, not the mindset of IT.
Now we follow SAFe
This guy interferes in how a scrum master should work, handle the team.
He even said wants the team to come at 10.30 and leave at 7.30
He even said I will make devs work 10 hours each day
So basically that same consulting toxic habits he wants to carry forward to here.
Now if we scrum master try to give a feedback, he takes it in ego and will never agree and oppose it
How as a scrum master can I handle this situation? How can I make him stop interfering in the team?
Suggestion please

How to Cope with a Workplace Fatality?
I'm still in shock over what happened. My friend cum coworker passed away at work a few days ago. It was a horrible, traumatic experience that I'll never forget. We found him unresponsive and tried to help, but it was too late.
It's been really hard to process everything. I don't want to go back to work right now because it's too painful. My boss understands from a business perspective, but I don't think I'm ready. I'm worried about seeing my coworkers and reliving the trauma.
What should I do? I'm not sure how to cope with this😔😐

Is it appropriate to give my boss a Diwali gift?😅
So my boss mentioned that she would be going out of town to visit family for Diwali. She explained it was the biggest holiday of the year and mentioned the gifts she was getting.
I thought it would be a nice gesture to get something for her and her family, they've been great to work for. Is it appropriate to give a gift for a spiritual holiday I don't practice? If so, what would be an appropriate gift?

Ignore Your Boss After Work: A New Law for India?
I've been thinking a lot about this new law in Australia that allows employees to ignore work-related calls and messages outside of office hours. It got me wondering if something similar would work in India. Who hasn't felt overwhelmed by constant work emails and calls? I'm curious to hear your thoughts. Do you think this kind of law would be beneficial for Indian workers?

I cried in a meeting today!
I couldn't hold back the tears during today's meeting. I'm just so worn out. This is my first day back from a week-long trip, and the stress has completely overwhelmed me. For the past three years, I've been given more and more responsibilities at work, without any of my previous tasks being taken off my plate.
As a perfectionist, I always strive for the best, which seems to lead to even more work. Now, I've been given another big, stressful project, and I made a mistake. I was supposed to lead a meeting, but I couldn't manage the group of 10+ people, and I ended up crying.
I managed to hide it, but my manager called me afterward, and I couldn't hold back my tears. I had to end the call and send her a message saying I wasn't up to talking right now. I'm feeling so mentally drained.
Is this what life is going to be like for the next 35-40 years? If so, it feels miserable and pointless.

Feeling Toxic!
I'm starting to feel really drained from this toxic work environment. I've got a coworker who's always passive-aggressive and a boss who's quick to anger.
Today was the last straw. My coworker, who's always playing the victim, had a full-blown meltdown and accused me of being secretive. I'm so tired of this drama.
Has anyone else dealt with a similar situation? Any advice on how to navigate this mess? I could really use some support right now.

Boss Refuses Time Off for Family Emergency
I'm at a loss. My family member needs urgent care after a serious medical procedure, and I asked my boss for just two days off to help out. Instead of being understanding, he abruptly denied my request, saying everyone's time off is on hold.
I've always been reliable and have never misused my vacation days. I'm shocked and upset that he's putting work before my family's well-being. Is this even legal? I feel like I have no choice but to prioritize my family, but I'm also terrified of the consequences at work.

Can someone explain me why so many jobs have toxic work environments?
Hi, I'm a curious student who reads news and participate in communities/ discussions. In most of the scenarios, I have seen there were always managers who just disrespect their employees and set unreasonable goals.
Of course colleagues gossiping very negative stuff behind their back and the usual nice treatment in the face and we have of course the infamous "You have to fit our culture, you can't change it" argument that is used as an excuse for every single crappy thing.
This seems like a complaint post, but genuinely, I am seeking for the reason why this phenomenon often occurs.😅

FrydayConfessions - Stealing Office Supplies😱
My colleague confessed that for months, he'd been sneakingly taking random office supplies from the stockroom—like toilet paper, cutlery, and staplers.

Micro Management disguised as Regular Updates!
We don’t check the driver's skills before booking a cab. We trust the cab provider.
We don't check the ingredients of a body lotion before applying it to our skin. We trust the brand.
We don’t check the hygiene of the kitchen while dining out. We trust the restaurant.
Then why request for a weekly review with the team we've selected ourselves?
Too much reviews break the workflow, waste the bandwidth and create trust issues within the team!
Reviews are needed but only when required not on the basis of your insecurity!

Hacks for getting WFH?
I’m currently working at a company with a strict 3-day WFO policy, and it’s taking a toll on my mental and physical health due to the 2-hour daily commute. Moving closer isn’t an option since I live with my family.
Can anyone suggest solid reasons or ways to request an extended WFH arrangement?😅
I know it might sound trivial, but is there a workaround or hack for this?

When was the worst day at work and why? What did you do get over with it?
Last week on Friday, I had a really bad day at work. It was like everything bad that could happen, did happen. I’ll never forget the look on my boss’s face when I accidentally deleted the whole presentation for a meeting. It was really scary!
To feel better, I took a deep breath and told myself that mistakes happen. I said sorry to my boss and the client, and then I worked really hard to make the presentation again. By the time the meeting started, I was tired but happy that I could do it. I learned a lesson that day even when things look bad, it’s important to stay calm and try to keep going.

Which companies are sinking real fast?
I've been hearing some pretty bad things about Adobe lately. Apparently, they're laying off a bunch of people quietly, and the pressure there is through the roof. It's like they're trying to turn it into another Infosys, and it's draining everyone. Has anyone else heard anything about these companies?

Is it wrong to leave work on time? Co-worker keeps on making fun of me leaving for work on time.
I work from 8am to 5pm. I usually arrive 5 minutes early or less and leave right on time at 5:00. Every time I say goodbye to my co-workers, one or two of them often make fun of me saying, 'It's only 5:01!' or 'We know it's 5pm when she (me) leaves.' I didn't really care at first because I was thinking that it's nothing serious, but lately it annoys me since they keep on saying it whenever they see me leave.
Since the day I started working, I never really overstayed at work (paid or unpaid) because I believe that maintaining a work-life balance is healthy. Aside from that, my place is a bit far (more than an hour) and commute is hard as there would be no more transportation vehicles at my last stop by 6PM.

Ghost Interviews
India has the worst HR system or you can say job tele callers group. They will call you and schedule the interview and after 1 to 2 rounds they don't reply on mail or on their useless job portal.
I experience this with multiple famous MNCs of india and foreign.
And the fun fact is 😂: HR said they are too busy so it takes time or unavailable to reply. And the same there company talking about How they are supporting business with Ai 😱. What nonsense if your companies are having too many technologies then update your HR Portal and integrate Ai to respond to the candidate if they are selected or rejected.
Or it may be the problem of an unprofessional HR team who doesn't know the actual process of hiring.
It's just a scam of job interviews to show their clients as they have too many projects and grab the new projects from them.

Making 78L at 32, but I feel like an imposter. Is this normal?
I'm a 32-year-old tech lead earning 78L/year, but I feel I'm fooling everyone. It's as if I'm constantly waiting for someone to burst into the office and shout, "Hey, fraud! We've finally figured out you're useless!"🧐
Despite my success, I'm terrified of making a mistake and being found out.
Has anyone else felt like this? How do you deal with feeling like a fraud when everyone thinks you're successful?🤷♀️

Is This the Norm in Office Jobs?
I'm feeling overwhelmed and stressed at my current job. Despite my best efforts, I can never seem to catch up with the constant workload. It feels like the managers don't fully understand the extent of my responsibilities.
I've tried to communicate my struggles to my manager, but their advice to prioritize specific tasks hasn't helped. They've even suggested that if I want to reduce my workload, I'll need to accept a lower position and pay cut.
I'm starting to wonder if this is the norm in office jobs. Is it possible to find a role that isn't so overwhelming? How can I move forward and cope with this stress?

WFH means work from anywhere?
Why do people think that working from home means we can work from anywhere, in a car, bus, or crowd, I feel like it's disrespect to IT employees when someone tells me, to come to a function and work from there, I mean it's a real work which needs its environment to work with, anyone feel the same?🤔

The Price of Ambition!
The recent news about EY was really bad. I went through something similar last year, and it’s still tough. It’s easy to blame the company, but the problem is bigger than that. In our country, there’s a lot of competition for jobs, so it’s hard to stand up for yourself.
I don’t have a quick fix, but I want everyone to take care of themselves and their friends. We need better laws to protect workers, but it’s hard to see that happening soon. Let’s support each other and work towards a better workplace.
