Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Resume Shortlist
Experience: Referral

Round: HR Interview
Experience: I was being interviewed for APM role in the supply chain team. Initially had a call with VP products for expectation setting, then had a telephonic round with a Product manager, where he asked me a few question on my past work and gave me a guesstimate. He also asked me a few supply chain related questions. Then I was asked to come to Bangalore for 3 face to face rounds.
First F2F round was with a Product Manager, who asked me about my past work and a few general question on eCommerce supply chain. Second round was with 2 VP, Product, they asked me questions on what supply chain products we can build for urban ladder and what problems will they solve. Mostly the discussion revolved around ideation and solving a few specific problems of eCommerce supply chain. One of the interviewer here had a bit of aggressive tone, but it wasn't a stress interview. The last interview was with the founder and one more person from the sourcing team. They asked me on how we can design a dashboard for vendors. After this, the founder asked me a few questions like, what do you want to do in the future? Why urban ladder? Top strength and weakness relevant for the job I'm applying for etc.
Tips: Be genuine, friendly and confident.

Skills: Past Work, Analytical Skills, product sense, supply
College Name: IIT Madras
Motivation: Product role in supply chain, high growth start up, a very good work culture, good talent pool and an awesome office
Funny Moments: I almost fell asleep after my 2nd round as because of Mumbai-Bangalore travel I was awake since 4 AM that day. The founder came in the room for the last round and woke me up.
After the last round, HR took me to the roof where they were having some diwali party, offered me beer and told me that I got the offer. I don't remember much as to what happened after that ;)

Tips: Practice! Practice! Practice! Even though you don’t want to attempt CAT you must definitely practice with material. Several practice tests will be available online too.

Round: Guesstimate Interview
Experience: It started with normal conversation where I was asked about my interests then followed by guesstimate and a puzzle. I did the guesstimate well. I stumbled while solving puzzle, but then I went over it again from the beginning and finally solved it.
Tips: If you feel that you are going in the wrong direction then ask the interviewer and start it from scratch without getting tensed. Its approach that will be observed not the outcome.

Round: Stress Interview
Experience: It was completely HR based stress interview. I was questioned about my weaknesses and I had to convince the interviewer by quoting examples of thing done by me. At the end there was general discussion about the company.
Tips: They were impressed with my intern work. Intern was based on project management and business analyst which was very close to the job I got selected in.

General Tips: Making resume should be started during summer itself. Just make sure of whatever you are saying. Don’t ever think of how the interviewer is feeling about your answer.Prepare well to talk about the company and its profile. Refer economic times/ ET retail time to time.

5 Interview Rounds

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: It was an easy exam(The UL one). Basic quant questions were asked. But easy exams are tricky ones. You cannot afford to make mistakes. So speed and accuracy were expected.
There are lot of companies that short list based on aptitude test. Most of them shortlist around 40-50 people for the next round. So CAT preparation(or the likes of CAT,GRE etc) is a MUST even if you are not actually giving CAT. Speed and Accuracy is required. Practice infinite. Only then you can make it to the short list.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: It was a happy round. I had to talk about me, which is easy if you are well aware of who you are and what you want. I was fortunate, I was asked an easy puzzle midway and a small Guesstimate.
Tips: Keeping Calm and Talking whatever I know in a confident way helped a lot. Also, asking him a bunch of questions about the company.

Round: Case Study Interview
Experience: It was a 40 minute interview. This interview had a bit untidy start. It took time for me to handle the first question, where I had to increase the sales of sofas. But I took my time, jotted down my thoughts and never stopped again. So, stay cool throughout and it helps. I could do well in all 3 questions.
Tips: Talking to the interviewer about whatever you know in the smartest way always helps. I guess my minor helped. Doing the common stuff is more than enough.

General Tips: Basic Practice for Interview is a must. Find a friend and start asking interview questions to each other. Mock Interviews help.
Use Insti life to find what you want to do for the rest of your life, and give your best in finding it. Placements are like any other course, If you really want to get them..You will…No matter what.
