Round 1

Test

Duration
60 Minutes
Test Sections
• Section 1: Aptitude Test
• Section 2: Analytical
Interview Experience
Quantitative: There were 2 questions. One was based on speed, distance & time and the other was on probability. Both of them needed a little bit of intuition and common sense.
Analytical: 3 questions were analytical and required subjective answers and thus a good IQ and writing skills were essential.
Round 2

Group Discussion

Duration
15 Minutes
Group Discussion Topic
Nuclear Deal between India and USA.
Interview Experience
There were 8 of us for the GD round. We were then taken to the board room and were asked to sit in a circular fashion around the table. We were provided with notepads and pens, one per person. The topic was then announced by the panel members and we were given two minutes time to get prepared. Soon, we were asked to start the discussion. Over the span of 15-16 minutes, I brought to the table a few valid points such as the current national political scenario and the responses of many International bodies with regards to the deal. In the end, we were asked to summarize and conclude the discussion individually. Other than the GD, there was also a case study where I was given the task of analyzing a fictitious candy company's sales and set local goals for the salesmen. Also there was a round called 'Guesstimate' where I was asked to logically predict/guess the total number of cricket balls sold in India in one year.
Round 3

Technical Interview

Interview Experience
There was only one interview for me. It was a mixture of technical and HR. As far as the technical part goes, I was tested for my knowledge of engineering mathematics, probability distribution curves, etc.. I was quite prepared for these questions and answered them as I deemed fit.
Round 4

HR Interview

Interview Questions
• Question 1: Why did you choose to apply for ZS?
• Question 2: Why did you choose to apply for ZS?
• Question 3: Why do you think ZS should select you?
Interview Experience
It was a thoroughly enriching experience for me. Initially, at the Pre-Placement talk, I was dazzled by the credentials of the delegation from ZS Associates. The manner in which the process of PPT was conducted was very professional and all the aspects were covered in the one and a half hour presentation. Although it was a very serious occasion, the delegation made me feel comfortable and were very encouraging throughout the process. All in all, it was a day whose memories I will cherish throughout my lifetime.

I was interviewed on-campus at IIT Bombay for ZS Associates
Interview Process

Round 1

Resume Shortlist

Interview Experience
I attended the workshop organized by Mckinsey & Co. on resume writing. It was of great help for me when I started writing my resume. I first made my resume on my own and then I looked at some of the resumes of my passed out friends. If you have any friend in Mckinsey or BCG, have a look at his resume it will help you a lot. Then I got my resume corrected and checked by my friends of my batch and some passed out seniors. It is always good to get opinion of 2-3 people on your resume. It really helps to improve.
Interview Tips
I tried to attend PPTs as many as possible. First thing is u get free pizza and second u get to know about the company, their recruiting procedure, the job they are offering and the pay package. Try to attend as much ppt as possible. People who come to give ppt are very smart and they also tell you how to prepare for interviews. If someone wants to appear for this company, what all should he/she ideally prepare? Prepare your HR well. Do some case studies. Familiarize yourself with some commonly used business jargon's and be confident.
Round 2

Test

Test Sections
Interview Experience
First there was a written test in which about 50 people got short listed. Then it was followed by a GD after which about 30 people got short listed and then a case study round after which 18 got short listed and finally one HR. They made 8 offers finally Walk us through the GDs/Interviews of this company. In the written test, there were about 8 questions comprising of 4 HR questions and 4 puzzles. Puzzles were mostly logical and were easy to solve. HR questions included questions like why you want to join ZS, what are your 3 most important strengths, how will you help ZS in growing etc. It was followed by a GD where the topic was “Privatization of Government sectors- Good or Bad
Interview Tips
There are lots of books on case studies available in IIT on various servers. There are few websites also for puzzles, but I think a community on Orkut with the name Puzzles is the best place to practice puzzles.
Round 3

Case Study Interview

Interview Experience
Then case study was not a typical business case study, it was more data analyzing kind of thing. Some charts and data tables were given and we were asked to come up with a model to decide how much incentive should be given to sales force
Interview Tips
.For interviews and case studies, I believe preparing in groups is the best policy. Don’t make very big group for case studies. A group of 2, max 3 is enough. Try to do case studies with different persons, you will get different perspectives. Don’t mug up your HR answers, but thinking about and telling it to your friend will be of immense help
Round 4

HR Interview

Interview Experience
In final HR round they asked me about myself, my internship, my strengths, my weaknesses and one simple supply demand problem.

1) Referring to like What u want in your first job, how ZS will help you in achieving this and how did u come to know about ZS.
2) Real time problem like if u have to urgently go somewhere and deadline is tomorrow, what will you do.
3) Tables of data are given and you are asked a question based on it.
4) Problem which requires ability to make equations.
5) Again a problem requiring Maths.
Round 2

Group Discussion

Duration
30 Minutes
Group Discussion Topic
Nuclear Deal of India
Interview Experience
In GD, quantity of your talk doesnt matter so much. Even if there are very few points from your side, you will get selected. The main thing that we need to remember is that we should be a part of the group. Never say NO to someone else's point. If u say NO, then it shows that you cannot work very well in a group. You have to speak for around 2 minutes in conclusion. So here it will be nice to appreciate others points and how u have learnt new points from others. Process is that there will be group discussion for around 15 minutes and then each person has to conclude for around 2 minutes.
Round 3

Behavioural Interview

Interview Experience
It is partly HR, they know about you. Then they gradually ask one question where you need to guess intelligently like - What are the number of street lights in Warangal. The question I got was that a peron writes a book which transparently shows differences in Christianity and Hinduism and he may even give the book for free. How many will read this book in India in its first year. You need to give proper reasons for your guess and not just a blind guess. (This interview is for around 30-35 minutes).
Round 4

Case Study Interview

Interview Experience
A real time business problem with many tables of information with many questions in relation to interpretation of the data in these tables, eg: crearing a formula for some parameter. Duration- you will be left alone with papers for 30 minutes and then the interviewer will come and ask questions based on what u did. (total of 50 minutes).
Round 5

HR Interview

Interview Experience
Partly HR like (why ZS) and some problems which require 11th and 12th standard Maths. (30 minutes).
Skills

Skills Tested

Skill Tips
1) Be very alert and attentive to all the questions that are asked.
2) Be confident with whatever you say but beware as they will surely again question why that answer.
3) There is not much preparation that you can do for ZS as it is more with your natural abilities.
4) Only preparation that u can do is that find and know about ZS properly.
5) It is helpful if you are good with 11th and 12th standard Maths and also CGPA helps to certain extent.

Interview Experience
Case Study
You will be given a case and supporting data about the case. There are no standard cases and hence there is no point discussing the case which I faced. There are 3-4 questions based on the case mainly to gauge your logical thinking and common sense. Try to write whatever you think and do that in a structured manner. Prep case solving using internet (lot of material is available).
Round 3

HR Interview

Interview Experience
HR Interview
Generic questions on leadership, initiative taking, team playing etc. Just prep well before the interview. Follow a systematic approach in all the answers: Describe the context/situation, describe what you did, what you learnt, impact of your actions and finally generalize the learning lesson by demonstrating how you can utilize that lesson in your workplace
Round 4

PRINCIPAL INTERVIEW

Interview Experience
Round 3: Principal RoundIts mainly an extension of HR round but you should be ready to face some weird apti questions and puzzles. I was asked a very interesting question which fortunately I was able to solve (do not remember the details now, but remember using calculus for that puzzle :-|). Rest of the interaction is about the job role and your fit. Keep asking smart and engaging questions. The interviewer will be the head of the office who is a partner. So, this round counts a lot. Anyways your chances are good if you have reached this round because generally it is the last round. Yes, FYI, all rounds are elimination rounds.

Interview Experience
Shortlisting done on the basis of test cum profile. Not many people were eliminated during this round. Communication skills will help you. They give current topics usually. We were asked to discuss Kejriwal’s methods.

Interview Experience
The interview lasted for 20-25 minutes. I was asked in detail about internships and projects. I had to solve a guesstimate as well.
Interview Tips
Go through casebooks. Be thoroughly prepared with the details in your CV.

Interview Experience
One hour to solve a case booklet followed by a discussion. Question was about devising an incentive framework for the sales force of a company.
Interview Tips

HR Interview

Interview Experience
This is the final round if you manage to get past the previous rounds. Fifteen minute interview with the principal with another guy looking on. I was also asked to solve a math problem/puzzle involving some calculation; it’s difficulty slightly enhanced by the principal’s efforts to unsettle me.
Interview Tips
The good news is that, if you make it to this round, you’re “almost” selected. Mostly an HR interview with pointed follow-up questions and cross questioning. So, think before you speak and be prepared backup your answers.

Skills Tested

Skill Tips
For my profile, Business Operations Associate, good aptitude would be required to clear the written test and communication skills, elementary case solving abilities to ace the interviews.
General Tips
A high CG is preferrable, although I was a lower 7. Extraordinary achievements are not required. However, an involvement in something beyond academics should be demonstrated. Core industry, core academic and consulting internships/ projects help. Prior experience in consulting probably helped my case. They do look for a good technical background and a well rounded personality. Parting Advice: Case books. CAT preparation. CV revision. That’s the mantra, more or less.

Once you are placed in a dream company you cannot sit for others. So choose wisely before you act.

Resume Shortlist

Interview Experience
Resume preparation was not a difficult task since I knew why I did things that were in my resume. To cover everything in detail I took help of HLPQ- a set of some 218 questions. There is no need to mug up answers to these questions. It should be read just once to get an idea of questions that can come up during an interview. I attended almost all pre-placement talks. These sessions definitely give a good idea about the company, the profile they are offering and the people therein. I consulted few seniors to make a choice between companies.
Round 2

Group Discussion

Interview Experience
GD Topic: Should the government lay more stress on building infrastructure facilities before inviting/giving permissions to MNCs
Interview Tips
I prepared in groups of 2/3. I think preparation should be done in groups, but with few members (max 4/5), so that everybody gains from it. Prepare with different groups &its because after some time , all group members start thinking in the same way and no new ideas come up. It also helps in knowing different perspectives about the same issue.
Round 3

Case Study Interview

Interview Experience
Case Interview: A candy company wants to increase its sales, what should it do to enhance sales in three given segments and how much compensation should it offer to its sales people? Also what should be the criteria to decide compensation? Lot of data was given- questions regarding best ways to analyze various kinds of data manually and using excel were also asked.
Round 4

HR Interview

Interview Experience
HR Interview: Why ZS? How can you contribute to the firm? Some mathematical puzzles and graphical questions. If someone wants to appear for this company, what all should he/she ideally prepare? Nothing much…general case study preparation will be of help. Prepare questions like - Why ZS and What skills do you have to add value to the company. Rest all was general awareness…a little knowledge about what all excel can do.

General Tips
For case interviews, I gave fewer options for a particular problem & told them only what I thought could be the problem. After getting the feedback, I guess they were looking for a person who could suggest all possible options, prioritize them and then tell them reasons for choosing/ rejecting a particular option. Any key tips for interview-day, viz. dressing, etiquette. Dress properly and smartly .Be very confident Don't think too much about not being able to get through the company .Take your own pen and paper; keep spare copies of resume in a folder . Be energetic and enthusiastic.
