Resume Shortlist Test Technical Interview
Round 1

Resume Shortlist

Interview Experience
I had a resume as per the standards laid down by our placement cell. It is a core sector company so I mentioned my internships and other projects (those I was well versed with) and those that were related to Electrical Engineering.
Round 2

Test

Duration
30 Minutes
No. of Questions
30 questions
Interview Experience
The first round was the written test consisting of two sections. One of the sections was dedicated to the quantitative ability, logical reasoning and verbal ability questions, and the other section consisted of technical questions. The first section was pretty easy but required both speed and accuracy because there were 30 questions in the paper and the time allotted was only 30 minutes.
In the technical section the questions asked were from ‘Machining’ and ‘Power Lines’. The company generally repeats its questions in the written tests. You can easily go through the previous years’ recruitment test papers from the company’s website. From my department nearly fifteen people appeared for the test, out of which seven were shortlisted for the next round.
Round 3

Technical Interview

Interview Experience
The next round was the personal interview round. The interview was complete technical interview. They enquired about my internship. Since my internship was based on ‘Induction Motors’ they grilled me on this topic. They asked me to explain the steps involved in the creation of an induction motor. They also asked me some questions on transmission lines. Further they also asked me a question on circuit breaker. In this question they asked me to state the voltage output when a circuit breaker is combined with the transformer with the help of the given data.
Interview Tips
Prepare yourself with technical topics related to Electrical machines and Power System Protection.
Motivation for applying
Reliance is a very reputed company in the country and has operations in the field of power as well. I did not know much about the profile and attending the pre placement talk helped a lot.

Written test- Two papers consisting of General Aptitude and Branch Specific Questions. I found the latter to be a comparatively tough paper.

It was quite short (approximately 15 to 20 minutes). The interviewer asked questions related to a form which everyone was required to fill before going for the interview. This form also contained a question asking one to list three subjects. The interviewer generally asks questions based on these. Also, I faced two or three questions related to the PPT.

General Revision of Subjects should be just fine. Listen attentively to the PPT. Explain your answers in simple terms, do not use high-level mathematics.

Round 2

HR Interview

Interview Experience
HR + Technical InterviewBoth of my interviews were quite general. In my first interview, the panel asked me questions from my favorite subject. One question that I remember is that they gave me a situation to assess the dependence of pressure on head and flow rate.
Next question was to tell the utility of pressure cooker and dependence of boiling point on pressure. HR questions included questions like why do you wish to join Reliance? Don't you have any problem in re-location? (This question was specifically targeted in all interviews that I gave before because I have been a day-scholar. So Jaipurites be prepared for this question <insert tease emoticon>) .In the following interview I was asked the subject I hated the most. I was then asked questions about my family background and a few more technical questions. Overall both the interviews had a mixture of Technical and HR questions.
Interview Tips
There is no one way to prepare for an interview. At the time of interview you just say what pop-ups in your mind. So it is one's day to day experience that prepares one for such a situation. But before going for an interview prepare for general HR and Technical questions which are easily available on the websites. Have a thorough knowledge of the things that you've mentioned in your CV. Most importantly keep your mind open, listen attentively and answer to the point.
General Tips
Extracurricular gives an impetus to your preparations and does prove that you are not just a book-worm or 'maggu' in our lingo. In fact, extracurricular builds up one's personality which is importantly noticed during an interview.
