Round 1

Test

Test Sections
  • Section 1: APTITUDE TEST
Interview Experience
The sections were Quantitative, Logical, Verbal and Computer Science. The three sections contained very basic questions of general aptitude while the Computer Science section contained questions on Database Management, OS, SQL and Programming Aptitude.
Round 2

Test

Test Sections
  • Section 1: PROGRAMMING TEST
Interview Experience
The question was to program a logic to test the correctness of a solved sudoku. We were allowed to code in C++, Java, C or pseudo code.
Round 3

Technical Interview

Interview Experience
Were asked simple questions and program them like reversing string without temporary variables, finding the earlier date when entered as string and finding the difference in number of days between them.
I was asked to explain him my internship project in great detail and above all one should be prepared to answer the question 'Why IT?' if from a non IT background. Then I was asked to program a logic for 'Search and replace" tool of MS Word.
Round 4

HR Interview

Interview Experience
Was asked about my background in detail and stressed again and again on 'Why IT?'. Then he asked me to prepare a summary on the merits and demerits of various Employee Data Management techniques for an organisation. For the end of the interview you should have a question which you would ask to the interviewer.
General Tips
Don't try to over emphasize the correctness of your logic if the interviewer finds a glitch. It irritates him. Be interactive in your HR round. In our case it was the VP of Oracle India who took the final round. So I asked him about his experience in the company. He was very happy to share it with me. But asses your interviewer before you put forth these queries cause your interviewer might not be as jolly as mine was.

I was interviewed on-campus at IIT Roorkee for APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER role at Oracle
Interview Process
Resume Shortlist Test HR Interview Technical Interview
Round 1

Resume Shortlist

Interview Experience
I used the same resume in all companies I merely altered my areas of interest depending on the profile on offer.
Round 2

Test

Interview Experience
I went through some CAT study books for preparation of the written test. The first round was the written test. The paper consisted of logical reasoning and programming questions. There was huge number of questions asked from data structures. The logical reasoning part was pretty simple but the programming part required some prior knowledge on programming.
Interview Tips
Majority of the questions were on basic maths hence I would suggest that one should practice sums from 10th class maths book.
Round 3

HR Interview

Interview Experience
The first interview was the HR interview. They asked me some questions from my resume and also asked me to write down a code that gives the Fibonacci series as the output.
Round 4

Technical Interview

Interview Experience
After 30 minutes there was another interview. In this interview I was asked some questions on data structures particularly on trees. Next they asked me about the various sorting algorithms and asked me to write a code to one of them. Since I was not well verse with the syntaxes they suggested that I write a pseudo code instead of a full-fledged code. Finally they asked me a puzzle. The puzzle was about 3 bulbs having corresponding 3 switches. While operating the switches it was not possible to see the bulbs. The bulbs and the switches were present in different rooms. Further it was given that the room in which the bulbs were present could be entered only once and also the switch could be manipulated only once. I had to specify which switch belonged to which bulb.

Skill Tips
For oracle, a lot of research into company needs to be made. Operating systems and databases require more amount of preparation and priority in Oracle.<br /> For data structures, online materials are excellent and in case of OOPS concepts, stronghold in either C++ or java programming language is necessary.
General Tips
Be extremely well prepared for any company. Research about the company's profile extensively before the company's interview. HR panel always looks for candidates who are well aware of the company in order to measure the candidate's interest. Data structures are absolutely necessary for any company. Improve coding skills through frequent participation in competitive programming arena such as codeForces, codeChef, HackerEarth etc. "Software development job profile was offered to me.

Unnecessary and irrelevant questions are to be avoided. We should raise questions only if we have some genuine questions. However any question related to job profile or location preference could be raised. "

"It was very grueling and tiring at first but the sweet taste of placement makes it all worth it.

Placements are a turning point in everybody's career.

I was interviewed on-campus at IIT Roorkee for Software developer profile role at Oracle
Interview Process
Test Test Technical Interview HR Interview
Round 1

Test

Interview Experience
For the written test, 1st round contains 2-3 parts of question and you have give answers as soon as possible because speed also matters.
It contains question related to a different programming language used by EPIC and mathematical ability question.
Interview Tips
If u cleared written test then chances for clearing interview is very high.
Round 2

Test

Interview Experience
2nd round is a subjective round contains 4 question for coding. Coding is to be done without compiler and also we have to write comments for explanation.
2nd round is subjective. Programme must be written in c/c++ and
without compiler.
Interview Tips
If u cleared written test then chances for clearing interview is very high.
Round 3

Technical Interview

Interview Experience
Telephonic interview is of 25-35 min. for technical
Interview is easy but tricky because it is telephonic. They asked about projects done in bachelor's and a case study or some easy problems which doesn't require pen paper for solution.
Round 4

HR Interview

Interview Experience
Telephonic interview is of 10-15 min. for HR
HR interview is formality (at least in my case). They just verified whatever written in my resume. They asked nothing.
General Tips
If u cleared written test then chances for clearing interview is very high. In our time they shortlisted 14 candidates for interview and finally selected 10 students but 7 students from B.Tech rejected EPIC offer. So, finally only 3 students from M.Tech got placed

in EPIC.

My suggestion for you is that there is VISA problem with EPIC because office is only i n USA. So, if placed in EPIC, try for other companies off-campus. Chances for getting VISA is very less.

Set your goals and sit for only those type of companies which match your aspirations.

Please do attend their PPTs as they can be very helpful in the interviews. Sometimes rejections happen only becuse we havn't attended their PPT. Try to cover atleast the basics of each topic that i told above. Be thorough with your concepts and speak confidently over there. Be strong in DSA, OS and one programming language especially.

Also prepare well for HR round as they can be really screwing as well. Cover topics like strengths/weaknesses, why you want to join their company, higher education(say no always) and reason for not going for it, why should they hire you, etc.

Do not panic, just always stay calm. Also listen carefully and with whole concentration to what they say. Always be patient, you will get a good company.

Also keep practicing your concepts even after you get placed. You will thank me later for this last point.

Interview Process
Resume Shortlist Test HR Interview
Round 1

Resume Shortlist

Interview Experience
I had a standard resume for this company as per the norms of our institute’s placement cell. For Oracle I laid emphasis on my programming skills and projects related to it.
Round 2

Test

Interview Experience
The first round was the written test that comprised of 5 sections – vocabulary, aptitude, pattern matching, logical reasoning and programming. The questions in the programming section were asked from data structures and C++. The questions in the programming section were mainly from trees (from data structures). Around 400 students appeared for their written test out of which around 100 were shortlisted.
Round 3

HR Interview

Interview Experience
The next round was the interview round. They gave me some puzzles to solve and a program to write. One of the puzzles that I remember was that if I were to be given an egg then how would I determine its durability, i.e. how would I determine that from which floor do I need to throw the egg from so that the egg does not break if thrown from any floor below it.
For the coding question I was given a mathematical formula and I was asked to devise a code such that the program uses the formula and gives the output.
Interview Tips
Prepare for Data Structures as well as the commonly asked puzzles for Oracle.
Motivation for applying
Oracle is a reputed company in the space of software and ITeS. It had come to our campus with five profiles. The best means to know about all of them is to attend the pre-placement talk of the company.

Oracle interview

I was interviewed on-campus at IIT Kharagpur for Oracle
Interview Process
Technical Interview HR Interview
Round 1

Technical Interview

Interview Experience
Stage 1: Technical InterviewIt’s a technical round, and they test you on your basic programming skills. Also they look at how the students think when he’s given a real world problem to solve logically. Basic programming skills. Write simple functions to accomplish small tasks (e.g. Fibonacci series etc.) Do not make any mistake in your program. One mistake and you may not get another chance. They give you sufficient time to double check whether your program is complete and correct. Give special emphasis on boundary conditions.
Stage 2: Technical Interview
I, being a Masters student, was asked me about my Masters project. This was followed by some difficult programming questions, in the sense that they were tougher than the previous round. They also threw some puzzles in between. Programming skills and problem solving skills are required in this round. You should also know about your projects. Know your project well, they may go down to nitty-gritty details of the project. They also see your problem solving skills, how you are trying to solve the problem etc. Always keep talking to the interviewer, and never assume anything about the problem, if you have any confusion ask the interviewer (This is required in every round of the interview).
Stage 3: Technical Interview
Again I was asked about the Masters project, but this time, they changed the scenario of the project. They asked how would I go about my project if the environment where my project applies is changed, i.e. the problem is same but the domain of the problem is changed. I was asked about real world problems as well. They are basically looking for your problem solving skill here, how your mind works and how you tackle the problems that are thrown at you. Always talk to the interviewer if you have difficulty in understanding the questions.
Round 2

HR Interview

Interview Experience
Reaching this round means you’ve been selected. They simply tell you that this is the location that they will offer, ask whether you’ve any plans about doing PhD. etc.
Interview Tips
Don’t mention your plans for future studies if any.
Skills

Skills Tested

Skill Tips
Math and quantitative ability is a plus. C programming language is a must.
General Tips
CGPA of 7.5 or more necessary.

Projects and internships matter a lot. Students should be well versed with their projects (B. Tech, M. Tech and all those that are applicable and appear in one’s resume).

Algorithms, data structures and programming in any language you are comfortable with. These are very much essential. These get most of the students through. Anything in addition to these is always good.

Interview Process
Test Technical Interview HR Interview
Round 1

Test

Interview Experience
They are mainly looking for students who have good programming skills. As the company is independent of the department in which you study, they allowed a lot non-CS/ EC departments. A good understanding of object oriented programming, operating systems, data structures and algorithm will help the student for the written test and interview. It was an online test held by some third party and contained a lot sections and subsections. It was not very tough but you have to be very quick at problem solving. Questions were based on operating systems, data structures, algorithm design, C/C++ programming, basics of Java and object oriented concepts, logical reasoning and quantitative aptitude; there were 5-6 questions on SQL too.
Interview Tips
Don’t waste excess time in any of the sections. There was a time limit for each subsection.
Round 2

Technical Interview

Interview Experience
The interviewer focused on the programming and problem solving skills of students. All the usual questions related to strings and linked-lists were asked. In this interview, they were asking the basics of many different aspects which an app developer should know, namely database management concepts, basics of web development and some programming. Knowledge of CS subjects is essential for this round.Puzzle solving ability is also tested in interview. Interviewer will give some small puzzles and will ask for efficient solutions.
They asked a lot of questions on our final (MTP) projects. Project portion alone took more than 1 hour in the first round of my interview.
Interview Tips
Try to interact with interviewer while solving the problem rather than silent thinking.
Round 3

HR Interview

Interview Experience
An interview with the usual HR questions like “Why do you want to join Oracle?”, etc.
Skills

Skills Tested

Skill Tips
Knowledge of C programming is a must. Apart from this, if somebody knows C++/Java, he/she will have an extra edge. As Oracle is working on data processing in their app development. if the student has a basic understanding of SQL and HTML, it will be an advantage although it is not mandatory.
General Tips
Try to crack the interview. A C programming pdf is available for free, which contains a collection of almost all types of programming problems which are asked in interviews. Apart from this, try to practice numerous questions related to aptitude.
