Interview Process
Test Technical Interview Puzzle Interview Technical Interview HR Interview
Round 1

Test

Duration
120 Minutes
Test Sections
  • Section 1: Software Engineering
  • Section 2: DBMS and OS
  • Section 3: Coding Skills
  • Section 4: Aptitude and Verbal Skills
Interview Experience
Every section had 3-4 subsections.Questions on coding skills were a bit tougher.Trees and Graphs were major topics here. Others were finding complexities, array representation of trees etc.Codes were written in c++.DBMS had normal theoretical questions and simple SQL queries. Software engineering had flow charts mainly with problem statement given and few boxes in the charts left to be filled by you from given options.Aptitude and verbal was easy
Interview Tips
Although the questions were a bit tougher but hold your nerves.Try to give your best based upon whatever you have studied till date.Apply all your logics and you can solve it.Total 200 students took the test and they shortlisted around 60. So even if you do a bit better than others you have very good chance to get shortlisted for the next round.
Do well in aptitude section. They will be easy and will maximize your score.
Round 2

Technical Interview

Interview Questions
  • Question 1: Explain your internship project.
  • Question 2: Given a matrix.Write a code to print the transpose of the matrix.
  • Question 3: Write code to find the middle element of a linked list.
  • Question 4: Explain multitasking and multiprogramming.
Interview Experience
My internship project was a java framework for automation of unit testing and the interviewer took special interest in that.He gave ample time to think about the logic for codes. This round was not so tough.
Interview Tips
Make sure that you know your projects thoroughly with all the pros and cons with all the future aspects. They were least interested in which language you are coding. Even if you get the logics correct and write the algorithms you were selected for the next round.
Round 3

Puzzle Interview

Interview Questions
  • Question 1: In a bag you have 20 black balls and 16 red balls. When you take out 2 black balls you take another white ball.If you take 2 white balls then you take out 1 black ball and if balls are of different color you take out another black ball.If you continue doing this what is the last ball that will be left
  • Question 2: There are five glasses that are kept upside down.At a time you are bound to turn four glasses.Give minimum number of times in which you can turn back all the glasses so that now none among them are upside down.
  • Question 3: Why Oracle? If you could not qualify for other companies or Why you did not choose other companies?
  • Question 4: Write a code to count the number of times '1' occurs from 1 to 999999
Interview Experience
This round was a bit rougher. I couldn't answer one puzzle. The interviewer was adding more stress to environment. Even for your correct answer he was acting as if you have given a wrong answer. He was a man with no emotions. May be he was checking how far you can pretend to be confident.
Interview Tips
Seeing his emotions I seriously felt that I am not going to get shortlisted for the next round although I had answered remaining questions perfectly. So don't get disheartened. Situation will be same for all.Be confident.Whatever you know express that confidently.
Round 4

Technical Interview

Interview Questions
  • Question 1: How was the other two interviews.Explain your approach for all those questions.

  • Question 4: Asked about ppt.What you liked.If I have any questions.
Interview Experience
This round was not so tough.Although he asked me to write code in c.I asked him if I can write in java as I am more comfortable in java.He said I will be more than happy if you can write in English language and just give me flow chart considering all the constraints.
Interview Tips
Even if you are not from CSE background, try to think logically. They were not seeing your coding skills rather they were more concerned with your logic and algorithms. They were giving ample time to think.

Test Puzzle Interview Technical Interview HR Interview
Round 1

Test

Test Sections
  • Section 1: Aptitude
  • Section 2: Logical Reasoning
  • Section 3: English
  • Section 4: Technical
Interview Experience
According to me the time given was little less than time required to solve these many questions. Questions were simple, speed was important. I had attempted Technical and LR sections properly and could attempt few questions of English, because of time constraint. You should maintain speed from beginning only. They say there is no negative marking, but they check accuracy, which means number of correct answers to total number of attempted questions, so even if negative marking is not there, do not mark randomly.
According to me, Since I attempted technical portion properly, I got interview call Server technology and because of LR portion I got interview call for Global Customer Support(GCS). I could not clear interview for server tech, but I could clear interviews for GCS
Interview Tips
Maintain speed from beginning,
Round 2

Puzzle Interview

Interview Questions
  • Question 1: Some puzzle from google, I don't remember what it was
Interview Experience
They will just see your approach, not the answer. I was asked one puzzle and was told to come after an hour, with the proper answer.
You will have all the sources to find out results, but the thing is they will consider the answer that is framed by you.
They will just check approach. I had given wrong answer but they liked my approach, so I was selected. They called me 3 times, each time giving some different puzzle. Just think on your own, don't give them google answers.
Interview Tips
Be confident while answering questions and have some basic knowledge of Customer Support.
Round 3

Technical Interview

Interview Questions
  • Question 1: Compilation related
Interview Experience
Some basic question only, I knew the answer properly.
Interview Tips
Only one technical question was asked, they don't focus on your technical knowledge that much.
Round 4

HR Interview

Interview Questions
  • Question 1: Some basic Questions
Interview Experience
This round was just for formality according to me. They asked basic questions like did you take drop in your career and all such questions.
Interview Tips
Just work hard, No matter what, You should have faith that you will get something that you deserve, may be something more than that.
Don't get depressed when you don't get in first few companies, Don't get depressed when you can't clear HR round because of your communication skills, Dont feel that you are not that good......You will get best thing at perfect time.... Just wait for that time and don't leave hope..... HOPE is most important......If you can't trust yourself, how can you expect others to do so....Just keep doing till you get it............... I was interviewed on-campus for Technical writer role at Oracle
Interview Process
Test Test Technical Interview Behavioural Interview Other Interview
Round 1

Test

Duration
60 Minutes
No. of Questions
50 questions
Test Sections
  • Section 1: Basic Written Test
Interview Experience
This first round of written test was conducted to gauge the basic knowledge and proficiency of the English Language. The test comprised of  some objective sections that needed the candidates to correct grammatically incorrect sentences, list the correct order of steps, etc.
It also included a few subjective essay-type questions to depict the candidates flow of writing.
Interview Tips
As much as we think we know English very well, it's always better to keep learning more! Even if that includes checking spellings and pronunciations of words that we thought we knew correctly all along.
Round 2

Test

Duration
75 Minutes
No. of Questions
30 questions
Test Sections
  • Section 1: Techincal Written Test
Interview Experience
This was a more thorough test to test the technical acumen of  the candidates. It had specific concept and task related questions.
Interview Tips
It's important to go through the job description and do your research about what the daily responsibilities may look like. Working on how you'll perform these tasks is equally important!
Round 3

Technical Interview

Interview Questions
  • Question 1: Tell me about the OS your phone uses? What are the other phone operating systems available in the market.
  • Question 2: Describe in steps how you downloaded any software recently.
  • Question 3: What do you know about Databases? Especially the Oracle Database.
  • Question 4: What knowledge to you have about PL/SQL?
Interview Experience
Having had absolutely no technical background at all, this was the toughest round for me. I knew the answers to some questions and didn't know the answers to most! I was honest about the fact that I didn't know certain answers and didn't try to come up with answers that I thought would be correct. That seemed to have worked for me as the interviewer appreciated the honesty.
Interview Tips
Textbook answers are cliched! Be real, be honest and admit if you don't know something rather than pretending that you do.
Round 4

Behavioural Interview

Interview Questions
  • Question 1: What if you and a teammate propose two different ideas for a project and only one can get chosen? What would your approach be like?
  • Question 2: If you know two team members don't get along with each other and they both come and speak to you about the other person, how would you handle both these colleagues?
Interview Experience
This round was an interesting experience because no matter how prepared you go for an interview, you never know what hypothetical situation you may end up in. It helps you understand yourself better, too!
Interview Tips
Ask a few friends to conduct a mock interview for you before your actual interview. Different people bring in different perspectives so they'll ask you different kinds of questions to help prepare you for this round.
Round 5

Other Interview

Interview Questions
  • Question 1: Who's your favourite teacher in college and why?
  • Question 2: What are your other interests?
  • Question 3: What kind of books do you like reading?
Interview Experience
This round of interview was with the managers. It was a fun round because they kept it extremely informal and fun. They wanted to observe the kind of team player I'd make and it also helped me establish a comfortable rapport with them.
Interview Tips
Always aim at all-round development. A corporate office environment goes way beyond just your work. Your sincerity, integrity, adaptability, and accommodating levels matter, too.
Skills

Skills Tested

  • Writing skills
  • Oratory skills
  • Learning/Graping skills
  • Technical acumen
General Tips
I can't stress enough on how important it is to be yourself during an interview. It'll also make you less stressed about the whole experience. Put in effort to prepare with all your data and facts, but also try and make the interview as interesting as you can for the interviewers. You have to show how and why you're different from the many other candidates that they're going to meet.
Motivation for applying
Great brand value for a fresher and a relatively upcoming job profile.

Test Technical Interview HR Interview Technical Interview
Round 1

Test

Interview Experience
Oracle conducts an online test in the beginning of the semester. This test consists of general aptitude, verbal ability, C output type questions.
Many divisions of Oracle visit the campus throughout the semester and all of them use these test scores. So, it is advisable not to miss this test.
For Server Tech profile, around 30 were shortlisted for interviews. Most from CS/IT and few from other branches.
Round 2

Technical Interview

Interview Experience
Interview Round 1 : Explain projects. Questions were asked based on whatever you say your strong topics are. So, be thoroughly prepared with one of them atleast. Was asked about normalisation in DB, basic linked list questions. A guesstimate type question was also asked. 13 were selected for next round.
Interview Round 2 : Network questions, OSI layers, their functioning. Basic topics. A simple puzzle, involved optimising the solution. DSA question, based on trees
Round 3

HR Interview

Interview Experience
Telephonic HR round : Standard questions. Nothing to worry about here.
Round 4

Technical Interview

Interview Experience
Interview Round 3 : 6 were selected for this round. I was asked 3 questions. One based on OS synchronisation concept, one on DSA, and another on logic gates (I know, its out of the ordinary).
Skills

Skills Tested

Skill Tips
This is for the software junta. First of all, if you are from CS/IT, there are a plethora of companies coming in the first month itself. So, it is important to be prepared beforehand. Make good use of your summer. I cannot overstate the importance of DSA in placements. Please go through Karumanchi and/or geeksforgeeks. Both of them are equally good. At the same time, brush up the other fundamentals : DB, OS, Networks.
Resources

Preparation materials

Books
  • Head first Java,
  • DSA made easy : Narasimha Karumanchi,
General Tips
To even have a sniff at getting placed, clearing the first round is mandatory. I have seen many deserving people falter in the first round. So, please don't overlook this. Let Us C and Test your C Skills by Yeshwant Kanetkar are the best for this purpose. Many companies lift questions straight off these books. <br />
Do NOT ignore general aptitude. We all think we are good at it, until we realise there are many others who are better. So, practice from aptitude books, online resources.Again, please make good use of your summer. Otherwise, you'll be playing catch up for the first few weeks, like me.<br />
Placements are probably the most challenging experience for most of us in college. If you've got a PPO, nothing like it.<br />
It will be very exhausting. You may feel like giving up. Endless PPTs, interviews etc. But, never lose your determination and you will be rewarded for your hard work.<br />
And the joy after getting placed. <br />
