Interview Experience
We were intimated that the exams will be online. Before this year, the company came to our college 2 times in 2011 n 2010 but then the exams were conducted on papers and so there were some dilemma regarding the level of paper. But on d day of judgement, we all arrived quite anxious about what we gonna face by d end of d day. Then at sharp 9 A.M. a seminar (pre placement talk) was conducted, where the panel who came for the recruitment gave us the brief intro about the organization and told us that paper will be of 2 hrs and will contain 4 sections viz. Verbal, Quantitative Analysis, Technical section and Logical Reasoning. The written exam started at 10 AM approx and went till 12:10 PM with a break of around 3 minutes after every section. After we finished our written we were asked to gather in the seminar hall at 2:30 PM to know the result of this round.
Coming to the pattern of paper, it was quite different from what we had seen in various websites. The level of d paper was quite good and it was almost like the Nascom test that is expected to go mandatory from next year onwards.First the rules, there was no negative marking and one has to attempt d question that appeared on d screen before moving to the next one and there was no facility to skip a question and we cant come back to a question that has been submitted, so I felt dat was harsh on students. The first three sections had 25 questions each and d last had 24 questions, in all there were 99 questions. All of them being multiple choice questions. In the first section i.e. verbal, contained questions like find out grammatical errors, synonyms and antonyms and also it contained two reading comprehensions. In the second section, the quantitative analysis d paper was quite easy. There were different sets for everyone with random questions bt what I saw in my part was dat probability n permutation has got d highest weightage.Coming to third and d most important part i.e. technical section. It had questions from all the major subjects ranging from C, C++, data structure and dbms. Though data structure was d toughest of all and there were questions where complexity of questions were to b evaluated….one example for this I remember is….there was one question to evaluate complexity of product of two diagonal matrix. Overall the section was not that tough but a good one which emphasized more on ur logics. Then came the logical reasoning section which against all odds was d toughest section in written and questions were quite good and u somehow feel that 35 mins for 24 questions were not enough.Aptitude Written Test :Four SectionsAptitude (25 Questions, 30 Minutes)
Technical (10 Questions, 20 Minutes)
Email writing(10 Minutes)
Programming(10 Minutes)1) Aptitude Written Test
Aptitude
Generic problems were asked... 10 were Analytical, the rest were Quant. They were easy-ok. The problem was solving it in the given time. R.S. Aggarwal is enough.
Technical - Snippets were given, we had to write the output on a sheet. NO MULTIPLE CHOICE. They were easy. Be thorough with control Structures(if,loops) and operators (incr, decr, left shift, right shift)
Email Writing:- They gave us a scenario, we had to write an email. The email doesn't have to be long, but make sure it's neat and is grammatically correct.
Programming:- You have to write a program without using library functions. Many found this tough. ATTEMPT, even though it might be wrong.
Interview Tips
Topics to concentrate for written round:
· Time and Work
· Pipes and Cisterns
· Problems on Trains
· Boats and Streams

Round 2

HR Interview

Interview Questions
  • Question 1: Indtroduce yourself
  • Question 2: What are your hobbies.
  • Question 3: Tell me about your family. After this it was all a technical affair. He asked me if I know java, I said yes. Then asked same about OOPs and DBMS and again I said yes and he jotted them down on his evaluation sheet. Questions dat were asked are:
  • Question 4: Explain virtual function and static method in C++.
  • Question 5: Write a program for credit, debit and billing for grocery shop. . Explain normalization.
  • Question 6: Then gave few simple sql queries like insert, update and aggregate queries.
  • Question 7: Then a result set for a table was given to me and a nested query for d same was asked to write. This was end of d interview, thankfully I was able to answer all of them.
Interview Experience
H R Interview ::We had stress interview. Many cross questions, some insulting remarks, shouting , being very rude.
The HR asked lots of G.K. (mostly politics around the world), so read the paper before you go, know who are the cabinet ministers, CM, PM, President, VP, speaker, then PMs and Presidents of other important or neighboring countries.
Personally, I did not do my best in any round , but i was positive and i attempted what i was asked to do[though i didn't know] and showed my interest to learn, I think that was all they were looking for, along with minimum knowledge and intelligence. He asked me t questions mentioned above.By god's grace, I was one of the selected few and was handed the offered letter by HR team itself.
Interview Tips
I hope all that I shared above could help you in your preparation. Be confident and give your best.
wish u all the good luck.....

Test Group Discussion HR Interview Other Interview
Round 1

Test

Duration
20 Minutes
No. of Questions
30 questions
Test Sections
  • Section 1: Aptitude test
Interview Experience
Test was pretty easy. I was able to finish test within 15 minutes and scored 28/30. I still wonder where I lost those 2 marks!
Interview Tips
To prepare for aptitude test its better you join CAT classes even if you are not looking forward to pursue MBA degree. With a good preparation for CAT exam these aptitude test of different companies will be a piece of cake for you.
Round 2

Group Discussion

Duration
10 Minutes
Group Discussion Topic
Social Media - BOON or BANE
Interview Experience
For this company each group had 20 students, which was quite more than the no. of students in GD of other companies. As I am comfortable with English and a very good speaker plus topic was pretty common and easy so I didn't had any problem in this GD. I was able to lead the group and present my points easily.
Interview Tips
In a GD along with a good speaker you also need to be a good listener. Never cut short any other student's point and explicitly express your views on the topic. Even if you disagree with someone's point instead of pointing out about your disagreement, humbly inform all members of your group that you have some other view about that point. To gain up points try to initiate discussion, try to make your group reach a worthy conclusion by suggesting some remedies for the problems point out during discussion. If unluckily you face a topic for which you are not able to recollect any thing then  be quite, listen to others, note down all points and give up a good conclusion at the end of your discussion. After doing this you will definitely have a good chance to be selected for next round. But to avoid this situation its better to read newspaper and be aware of current affairs because most of the topics are either general or related to some current topic.
Round 3

HR Interview

Interview Questions
  • Question 1: Tell me briefly about yourself.
  • Question 2: Seeing my extra curricular activities, they asked me about my experience while working in NSS and also some other questions related to events I had managed.
  • Question 3: Would you like to work for another post as Finance & Alliance Manager?
  • Question 4: Are you comfortable with travelling?
  • Question 5: Tell me about your family and hobbies.
Interview Experience
As I already have been gone through many interviews so I was well prepared for this question. As my this company is a digital education firm. So, before coming to interview I restructured my answer in such a way which shows how could I be helpful for their firm. I worked up in NSS for my whole 3 years starting from volunteer to Deputy General Secretary post, so I was pretty comfortable in narrating them my whole experience.
Interview Tips
Make sure you are prepared for some basic questions. As many of the students doesn't take these questions seriously but I will say this are very important question as with these answers you can direct your interview towards your strong zone. If you will be specifically mentioning some good things about you then their next question definitely will be related to it only as they want to know more about you. Interview is simply an interaction process, whatever you will be saying you need to be prepared for answering another question related to it. You should be by heart prepared for every word written in your resume as they will be judging you by asking questions related to your resume only.
Round 4

Other Interview

Interview Questions
  • Question 1: Are you aware about the work needed to be done while working in this profile?
Interview Experience
As my post was a different one which they mentioned during their PPT. So, among 16 finalist I was the only one who also had a skype interview with HR interview. It was again a very chill interview. Director of the firm almost repeated the same questions and I confidently answered all of them
General Tips
Be confident and don't try to mock someone else. Be yourself. While interview make sure you edit your general answers according to company and your job profile. Don't get frighten while talking to your interviewer. Always be confident because confidence is a must thing any company or firm is looking while hiring employees.

Mindtree Software interview

6.9k views
Ravi Tej KattulaFresherSelected
Application
I was interviewed on-campus at Andhra University College of Engineering for Software role at Mindtree
Interview Process
Round 1

Interview Experience
There are three rounds in Mindtree:

Online test
Technical Round
HR Round
1. Online Written Test:

The online test pattern and syllabus for aptitude exam for Mindtree is almost similar to AMCAT. Please refer this link: AMCAT Syllabus, Question Paper and Exam Pattern

There will be three sections in this round

English: The verbal sections consist of topics like: find grammatical errors, synonyms and antonyms, Reading Comprehension, Jumbled Sentences and also correction of sentences.

Quantitative Aptitude: The topics covered in this section are Average, Time and Work, Simplification, Probability, Profit and Loss, Permutations and Combinations, LCM & HCF, Percentage etc.

Logical reasoning: Coding and Decoding, Seating Arrangements, Blood Relations and Puzzles

Note: For Quantitative Aptitude, R.S. Agarwal book is more than enough.

The English and aptitude sections contain 25 questions(25 min.) each and logical reasoning contains 24 questions and 35 minutes.

Note 1: If you shortlisted based on your eLitmus or AMCAT score, then you do not have to write the aptitude test. There will be only two rounds of interview: Programming and Technical(cum HR) round.

If you are writing AMCAT test, try to remember this point:

There is no option to skip questions.
You cannot go back to previous question.
There is No negative marking.
Note 2: Sometime, Mindtree may conduct programming test as well. The questions asked in this test are C programming and algorithms.

Programming Test:

In Programming test, you need to write two program depending upon the logic and the duration of this round will be around 30-45 minutes.

The topics covered in programming test round are: C programming, OOPS concepts, Data Structures, Complexity Analysis etc.

The previous questions asked in this round are:

Find whether the array is palindrome or not
Input 5 numbers in an array and find the Pythagorean triplets in them and print it.
After writing the program, you need to compile and run it successfully.

Note: This is not elimination round, but this round performance matter most in the Technical round.

2. Technical Round:

In this Technical round (from Mindtree perspective), they will mostly asked questions from C Programming language for freshers. So, you should brush up your basics in C language concepts.

Other than C programming, they can asked some basics questions from Java, Database Management System(DBMS), Computer Network and OOPS topics. You should be well prepared with one of the core subject from your academics.

Some of the Technical Questions asked are:

What are pointers in C?
Which is your favorite subject in engineering and why?
Basic questions from Data Structure and Algorithm?
Note: If you have written programming test, the interviewer will have your snippets of codes and be ready to explain and answer question for it.

3. HR Round:

HR round is very easy if you have good command over English language. The interviewer just checks yours communications skills and confidences. Sometimes, they may even asked technical and logical questions to check your logical skills.

The HR will try to may you nervous (so that you can loose your confidants), so be prepared & have a good smile and never get trapped into that situation.

The most common HR questions will be:

Tell Something about Yourself ( or apart from your resume).
Why do you want to join Mindtree though there are many companies like Infosys, TCS, Wipro etc.
Why should Mindtree recruit you (or I hire you).
If you will not be given offer letter, then how you will feel?
What are you strength and Weakness?
How is your favorite person (sportsmen, film star or politician) and why you like him?
Who is your role model and why?
Tip: If HR asks questions like relocation, shift, you should agree to all his conditions for better chances of getting selected.

They were given question papers with three sections for the written round
First section had 10 technical and 30 quants(30 min)
The paper would be very easy if you just know the basic concepts.
The next question was a program,”to print the elements in the secondary diagonal of a matrix”.

Topics to concentrate for written round:
· Time and Work
· Pipes and Cisterns
· Problems on Trains
· Boats and Streams
· Calendar and Clocks
· Probability
· Ratios and Percentage
